View, Add, Edit, and Delete Interactions

Interactions are timeline entries that track all of your communications and interactions with your donors. Interactions include communications like letters, emails, and phone calls and interactions like in-person meetings, special events, and volunteer activity added manually in Bloomerang CRM or synced from Bloomerang Volunteer.

Acknowledgement interactions can be linked to transactions and soft credits. These interactions display the linked transaction or soft credit in the Acknowledged Transactions pane.

Run interaction-based reports to customize and export lists of interactions.

View Interactions

To view interactions:

  1. Click Timeline.

  2. To view only interactions on the timeline, click the Interactions filter.

    Interactions appear on the timeline with a chat bubble icon . Interactions include the date, channel, purpose, and subject. Bcc'd email threads are grouped.

  3. To view more information about an interaction, click it.

Add Interactions

Bloomerang CRM automatically adds interactions to constituent records when you:

  • Include the constituent in a mass email or a letter generated through Bloomerang CRM

  • Use Journey Automation, and an automation sends an email to a constituent

  • Bcc an email to Bloomerang CRM

  • Sync volunteer activity information from Bloomerang Volunteer

  • Export event registration information from Bloomerang Fundraising (formerly Qgiv)

You can manually add an interaction from the Search Results page or the constituent profile.

To manually add an interaction:

  1. On the account header, click the down arrow and select New Interaction.

  2. Enter or select a Date.

  3. Enter a Subject, which will appear on the timeline.

  4. Select a Purpose, which is the main intent of the interaction.

  5. Select a Channel, which is the method you used to interact.

  6. If the constituent contacted you first, select Initiated by Constituent.

  7. (Optional) Add Attachments. You can upload files or add links to the interaction.

  8. Select values for custom fields, if you have any. You can use custom fields to track additional details about your communications and interactions with constituents.

  9. Click Save.

Edit Interactions

To edit an interaction, click it from a constituent's timeline, from a report, or from a task that has been saved as an interaction. The interaction opens in edit mode. Make any changes and click Save. For more information, read Add Interactions.

Note: You cannot edit interactions synced from Bloomerang Volunteer.

Delete Interactions

To delete an interaction, open it from a constituent's timeline, from a report, or from a task that has been saved as an interaction. Click Delete to permanently remove the interaction.

Details

The following interactions act slightly differently:

  • Interaction with linked transaction or soft credit: Deleting the interaction does not update the transaction's or soft credit's acknowledgement status to No. If you want to change the acknowledgement status, click the linked transaction or soft credit and remove the interaction from the transaction or soft credit. Then you can go back to the interaction and delete it, if desired.

  • Interaction with attachment: Remove all attachments and click Delete.

  • Interaction created from a task: The task is reactivated when you delete the interaction. The constituent's timeline opens, and the reactivated task is briefly highlighted.

  • Interaction synced from Bloomerang Volunteer: You cannot delete this type of interaction.
