View and Manage Acknowledgement Information

You can automatically or manually mark donations as acknowledged, which links the transaction or soft credit to the acknowledgement interaction. If you have an acknowledgement interaction that isn’t linked to a donation, you can link it.

After you acknowledge a donation, you can view and manage information about that acknowledgement.

Automatically Mark Donations as Acknowledged

To help you track acknowledgements, each payment and soft credit has an acknowledgement status: Yes, No, or Do Not Acknowledge.

Bloomerang CRM can automatically update this status for you. When you create emails, letters, and templates for acknowledgements, select the Acknowledgement purpose.

Purpose setting for an email

When you send an email or generate a letter with the Acknowledgement purpose:

  • Bloomerang CRM automatically updates the acknowledgement status to Yes for that payment.

  • An acknowledgement interaction for the email or letter appears on the constituent’s timeline.

  • The acknowledgement interaction and the payment are automatically linked.

Manually Mark Donations As Acknowledged

You can manually update the acknowledgement status when you:

Important: If you use Journey Automation to automate email acknowledgements, don’t manually update the acknowledgement status to Yes or manually generate an acknowledgement. If the automation sends an email with an Acknowledgement purpose, the acknowledgement status automatically updates to Yes.

View, Edit, and Delete Acknowledgement Interactions

After Bloomerang CRM sends an acknowledgement email or generates an acknowledgement letter, an interaction for that email or letter appears on the constituent’s timeline.

Open this interaction to:

  • View when and how the transaction was acknowledged

  • View the transaction linked to this acknowledgement

  • View the email or letter acknowledgement the donor received

  • Edit the acknowledgement information, add a note, and add attachments

Important: If you use Journey Automation to automate email acknowledgements, don’t manually update the acknowledgement status to Yes or manually generate an acknowledgement. If the automation sends an email with an Acknowledgement purpose, the acknowledgement status automatically updates to Yes.

Manually Link Acknowledgement Interactions to Donations

If an acknowledgement interaction isn’t linked to a transaction or soft credit, you can manually link it. The interaction must have an Acknowledgement purpose.

To manually link an acknowledgement interaction to a transaction or soft credit:

  1. Go to the constituent’s timeline.

  2. Open the transaction.

  3. Click the plus symbol.

  4. Select an existing acknowledgement interaction. The acknowledgement appears on the transaction or soft credit.

  5. On the transaction or soft credit, click Save.

Unlink Acknowledgement Interactions from Donations

Removing an acknowledgement interaction from a transaction or soft credit unlinks the two, but doesn’t delete the interaction.

To remove an acknowledgement interaction:

  1. Open the transaction or soft credit.

  2. In the Acknowledgements section, click the down arrow next to the interaction.

  3. Click Remove.

If this is the only interaction, the Acknowledged menu automatically changes to No. Otherwise, it remains the same.
