Push notifications send an alert to your mobile device when your organization receives a donation and when you have tasks due today or overdue.
You can enable, disable, and filter the notifications so that you get them only for the updates you want. For example, a major gift officer at an organization can choose to get notifications only for gifts above a certain amount.
Push notifications are available on iOS and Android. They look and behave similarly on both kinds of devices.
Note: The images in this article show Bloomerang CRM push notification settings and examples on an iPhone.
How It Works
When you enable Donations push notifications, Bloomerang CRM mobile app informs you of all donations sent to Bloomerang CRM except those created from a bulk import, including donations from:
Donations that come to Bloomerang CRM through Bloomerang Fundraising forms and events
Donations you or a teammate enter by hand, in the web app or the mobile app
Recurring donation and membership payments that process automatically
Donations made through your Bloomerang CRM donation forms
Donations from connected integrations, such as Stripe and QuickBooks Online
Note: Donations added through a bulk import don't trigger notifications. Imported donations are the only exception, so importing a large file won't overwhelm you with notifications.
Within the enabled Donations notification setting, you can further filter your notifications to include only donations that:
Are from constituents who have you assigned as their relationship manager
Are within a specific monetary range
Filters work together, so a donation must match every filter you set before it notifies you.
When you tap the push notification, Bloomerang CRM mobile app launches and opens the donation details page in the giving constituent’s Timeline. The details include the donation date, amount, fund, method, whether the donation has been acknowledged, and any other information provided with the donation. From this page, you can also record a video acknowledgement to thank the donor.
When you enable Tasks Due push notifications, Bloomerang CRM mobile app sends you one push notification per day summarizing the tasks assigned to you that are due today or overdue. You get the notification at 8AM in the time zone set for your user account in the Bloomerang CRM web application.
When you tap the push notification, Bloomerang CRM mobile app launches and opens the Task List page. The page shows the task due date, subject, assignee, and channel. If the task has a purpose, constituent, attachment, or notes, these also appear.
Before You Begin
Before you set up push notifications:
Install the most recent version of the Bloomerang CRM mobile app. For more information, read Bloomerang CRM Mobile App | Download, Install, and Log In.
Update the notification settings on your device to allow the app to send you notifications.
To enable notifications for donations, make sure you have a transaction permission that allows you to view all transactions. If your transaction permission is limited to transactions you created or is set to No Access, an administrator must update your permissions for you to enable notifications.
To filter donation notifications by your assigned constituents, make sure you are assigned as relationship manager for at least one constituent in the Bloomerang CRM web application.
Enable and Filter Donation Notifications
Tip: Because you are notified about donations you enter yourself, we recommend that you disable Donations notifications before high-volume entry events.
To enable donation notifications:
Open the Bloomerang CRM mobile app.
In the navigation menu, tap More.
Tap Notification Settings.
On the Notification Settings page, enable Donations.
The first time you enable a notification, your device asks whether to allow notifications from Bloomerang CRM. Tap Allow or Don’t Allow. If you tap Don't Allow, the setting returns to disabled. To change your choice later, update notification permissions for Bloomerang CRM in your device settings.
(Optional) To receive notifications only for donations from constituents with you assigned as their relationship manager, enable Only My Assigned Constituents.
Important: To enable this filter, you must be assigned as the relationship manager for at least one constituent. If you are not assigned to any constituents, you can still enable Donations. To assign yourself as a relationship manager, read Assign, View, Reassign, and Remove Relationship Managers.(Optional) In the Filter by Donation Amount section, tap and drag the ends of the slider to set the minimum and maximum donation amounts you want to be notified about. You can set the slider minimum and maximum at increments from $0 to All, which notifies you about donations of any amount at or above the lowest amount.
For example, if you set the minimum as $50 and the maximum as $2,000, you receive notifications only for donations within that range, and you do not receive notifications for donations less than $50 or more than $2,000.
(Optional) To return both filters to their default settings, tap RESET FILTERS.
To save your changes, tap the check mark in the page header.
Bloomerang CRM mobile app shows a confirmation message stating that settings have been saved. If you tap the back arrow while you have unsaved changes, a message asks you to confirm your choice. Tap Keep Editing to return to your changes, or tap Discard Changes to leave without saving.
After you save, you get notifications for new donations with a new donation message, the donation amount, and the donor name.
Tip: To hide amounts and donor names in push notifications, update your device settings so that they don’t show notification previews.
Note: If a user has donation notifications enabled, and an admin changes their transaction permissions to View and edit only transactions created by this user or No Access, their donation notifications are disabled. The user must log out of the Bloomerang CRM mobile app and log back in for the permissions change to show.
Enable Task Notifications
Tasks Due notifications are disabled by default and are not affected by transaction permissions. Users of any permission level can enable task notifications.
Note: If you share your iOS device, and another user logs in to the Bloomerang CRM mobile app on the device, Tasks Due is enabled automatically for the other user. To disable Tasks Due, follow the instructions in the Disable Notifications section of this article.
To enable task notifications:
Open the Bloomerang CRM mobile app.
In the navigation menu, tap More.
Tap Notification Settings.
On the Notification Settings page, enable Tasks Due.
To save your changes, tap the check mark in the page header.
