Bloomerang CRM provides tools for online giving. After a few steps, you can accept donations online through a Bloomerang form.
Get Started
We recommend that you complete the steps in this order:
If a donor uses your online form to donate, Bloomerang CRM either creates a new constituent account or adds an interaction to an existing constituent account. For more information, see Online Donations, Constituent Accounts, and Interactions.
Connect to Bloomerang Payments
Bloomerang Payments is simple and straightforward to set up in Bloomerang CRM. Read Connect to Bloomerang Payments to get started.
If you have an existing Stripe Connect, Authorize.net, or BluePay account, you can use it in Bloomerang CRM. You can access the Transactions Processors page for those processors only by logging in to Bloomerang CRM and following this direct link.
Note: If you create forms and select Stripe Connect, Authorize.net, or BluePay as the transaction processor, you can later change the transaction processor to Bloomerang Payments. In the settings for each form, from the Transaction Processor list, select Bloomerang Payments.
Activate Fraud Prevention for Online Forms
To add a transaction form on your website, you must set up Google reCAPTCHA, a free service that helps prevent fraud. Read how to set up reCAPTCHA.
Create Online Forms in Bloomerang CRM
After you set up a transaction processor and reCAPTCHA in Bloomerang CRM, you can create online giving forms and event registration forms in Bloomerang CRM.
You can create a standard form or a custom self-hosted form.
Transaction Forms
All transaction forms can:
Accept credit, debit, and EFT payments. The payment methods that appear on your form depend on which processor you use. EFT is available through Bloomerang Payments, Authorize.Net, or BluePay.
Create transaction entries on an existing constituent's timeline, if constituent data on the form matches what's stored in Bloomerang CRM.
Create constituent accounts for new donors, and create the transaction entries on the newly-created constituents.
Provide an option for donors to cover processing fees.
Send confirmation emails to the donor.
Learn how to customize the confirmation email sent by forms here.
Online Giving Forms
Online giving forms can:
Accept credit, debit, EFT payments, and digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Venmo). Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Venmo are available exclusively for customers who use Bloomerang Payments.
Provide multiple donation levels as options on the form.
Allow the donor to make the gift a recurring donation.
Allow the donor to choose which Fund their gift is allocated, if the form is set up to do so.
To accept digital wallets on your online giving forms:
PayPal and Venmo — You must enable the PayPal & Venmo add-on. If you have existing self-hosted forms embedded on your website, you must complete an additional step after PayPal verifies your information: Regenerate the form code and copy the code to your website.
Apple Pay — Apple must verify your domain. This includes both Bloomerang-hosted and self-hosted online giving forms.
Google Pay — You do not have to complete any additional steps. Donors who have Google Pay enabled and use a supported web browser automatically see Google Pay on online giving forms.
Event Registration Forms
Event registration forms can:
Accept credit, debit, and EFT payments only.
Be used specifically for paid events.
Provide different registration types in the form.
For information on how to create an event registration form, see Create Event Registration Forms. We recommend using a constituent information form for free events.

Note: If you select Canada in your organization settings, and if you have a Canadian Stripe or Authorize.net account, your online forms use Canadian dollars (CAD), not United States dollars (USD) converted to CAD.
Membership Forms
If your subscription includes membership management, you can create Bloomerang-hosted membership forms. For more information, view About Memberships and Create and Manage Membership Forms.
Add Online Forms to a Website
After publishing a form in Bloomerang CRM, a code snippet is provided that you can insert into the HTML of your website where you would like the form to appear. The form will inherit the styles of your website where it is embedded.
Note: The form will appear directly on your webpage if the page is secure with an SSL certificate and you have enabled reCAPTCHA in Form Settings. If your site does not have an SSL certificate, or you have not enabled reCAPTCHA, a Donate button will appear instead of the full form. The button will redirect users to a Bloomerang-hosted version of the form.
The specific steps for embedding a code snippet onto your site varies depending on the platform you use. Here are links to popular platforms that should help with embedding code snippets of this type.
For other platforms, view the documentation provided by that platform.
Online Donations, Constituent Accounts, and Interactions
If a new donor uses your online form to donate, Bloomerang CRM creates a new constituent account for that donor. If the same constituent donates again, Bloomerang CRM adds an interaction for the donation to the constituent's timeline.
To determine whether a constituent record already exists, Bloomerang CRM considers this information:
Name (first and last name)
Address
Phone
Email
If the name matches one other type of information (address, name, or phone), Bloomerang CRM adds an interaction to the constituent's timeline rather than create a new constituent account.
If the name does not match an address, phone, or email, Bloomerang CRM creates a new constituent account. For information about how to review and merge duplicate accounts, view Review and Merge Duplicate Constituents.
Create Reports
Create reports to see donations and interactions created through online forms.
In a transaction or interaction report, you can filter by Online Form. Select this filter, and then select which online form(s) created the transactions or interactions (depending on your report type).
You can add other filters to the report. For example, create a transaction report, add the Online Form filter, and select one or more online giving forms. Next, add the Method filter and select one or more payment methods. The report shows donations made through those forms and paid for using those payment methods.
Note: In the Method filter, the Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Venmo options show payments processed in Bloomerang CRM and outside of Bloomerang CRM.
