GDPR and Communication Opt-ins

Bloomerang CRM

Updated today

GDPR requires all companies to receive explicit permission from EU residents to contact them by email, postal mail, or phone.

Opt-In Preferences on Online Forms

To help you toward GDPR compliance, opt-in options appear when a constituent enters an EU address on Bloomerang CRM online form. To opt-in to all updates, constituents can select this option: I would like to receive or continue receiving updates from [Your Organization's Name].

To opt in to only some updates, constituents can select the same option, and then select only some of these options:

  • By Email

  • By Postal Mail

  • By Phone

Constituents can update their preferences each time they submit a form.

Email Sign-Up Forms

Email sign-up forms have clear messaging that constituents will be contacted at this email address.

Opt-In Preferences in Form Confirmation Emails

After a constituent submits an online form, they receive a form confirmation email. All confirmation emails have a Manage Email Preferences link. Constituents can click this link to opt in to all, some, or no email interests.

Opt-In Reason for Changes Made by Administrators

As a best practice, let your constituents manage their own email preferences. If you change the email preferences for a constituent, you must enter a reason.

After you save the changes to the constituent's email preferences, the reason, a timestamp, and your Bloomerang CRM user name appear when you next select to change this constituent's email preferences.
