Updated over 2 months ago

The European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regulates how companies protect the personal data of EU citizens. GDPR requires companies to get explicit permission from EU residents to send them communications.

Your Organization and GDPR

If you have constituents in the EU, regardless of where you are, the GDPR applies to your organization. EU constituents must explicitly express consent to receive communications from your organization.

Bloomerang CRM and GDPR

Keep track of consent in Bloomerang CRM through communication restrictions and email interests. You can use these fields as filters in letters and emails.

Bloomerang CRM helps you obtain and track consent from your constituents:

  • When an EU address is entered on an online form, an opt-in checkbox is displayed.

  • All confirmation emails have a link to the manage email preferences page, where constituents may opt in to all, some, or none of the email interests.

  • When a user edits a constituent’s email interests, they must enter a reason.
