View All Groups
To view a list of all groups in Bloomerang CRM, from the navigation menu, click Groups . The Groups Summary page opens.
To help get you started with donor segmentation, Bloomerang CRM automatically adds several groups and manages some of those for you:
Group Type | Based On | Managed By | Groups |
Bloomerang Donor Groups (dynamic) | Financial giving (donor lifecycle) | Bloomerang CRM |
If your subscription includes membership management, Bloomerang CRM also creates and manages groups for each membership level. |
Bloomerang Static Groups
| Time investment | Your organization |

A Bloomerang icon indicates groups that Bloomerang CRM creates automatically. A blue lightning icon
indicates groups that Bloomerang CRM manages automatically.
The Name, Member Count, Date Created, and Last Modified date appear for each group. Click any column to sort the list.
Member Count Calculation
The Member Count is the total number of constituents in the group. Household members are counted as individuals. If any household member is active, the household is active.
Member Count for Bloomerang-Managed Groups
Bloomerang CRM adds all members of a household to Bloomerang-managed groups.
For example, Chris and Pat Smith are a household. Chris donates and becomes a member of the Current Donors group. Chris automatically becomes a member because Bloomerang CRM manages that group. Pat does not donate but also automatically becomes a member of the Current Donors group because of Chris’ donation. After Chris donates, the Member Count for the Current Donors group increases by two.
If you convert a household member’s donation to a pledge payment for another household member’s pledge, the group membership updates the same for both members.
Bloomerang Donor Groups include inactive or deceased constituents who are household members if their household is active. Otherwise, Bloomerang Donor Groups do not include inactive individuals or organizations, or deceased individuals.
Member Count for Groups Managed by Your Organization
You can add only single constituents to groups that you manage.
For example, if you manually create a new group and add one member of a household, Bloomerang CRM does not automatically include the other members of that household in the Member Count. However, the other household members are included in the transaction-based analytics. Read View Groups Analytics.
For groups that your organization manages, you can add inactive or deceased constituents.
Bloomerang Donor Groups Membership
For Bloomerang Donor Groups, qualifying transactions determine group membership. Qualifying transactions are revenue transactions and soft credits on one-time donations.
Revenue transactions are:
Single donations
Pledge payments
Recurring payments
Membership payments
For pledges, recurring donations, and memberships, only the payments count as revenue transactions. The schedules do not count as revenue transactions.
Soft credits linked to pledge schedules and recurring schedules do not count as revenue transactions.
Note: Unlike other dynamic groups, constituents are added to the Prospective Donors group if they have no qualifying transactions.
