Edit Email Styles and Layout

After you create an email or email template, you can edit styles that apply to the entire email or particular rows. You can also edit the layout by changing rows and columns.

Emails created before November 11, 2019, use Bloomerang CRM’s legacy editor. Read about how to edit emails created in the legacy editor.

Get Started

To get started, create or open an email or email template:

Edit General Style Settings

You can edit character and paragraph styles that apply to the entire email.

To edit style settings:

  1. On the Design tab, click the Settings tab.

  2. Edit any of these settings:

    • Content Area Width

    • Content Area Alignment

    • Background Color

    • Content Area Background Color

    • Background Image

    • Default Font

    • Link Color

  3. Click Save And and select an option.

Add Rows

To design your email layout, add one or more rows. Rows are horizontal placeholders that contain one to four columns of different widths. In rows, you can place different types of content side by side.

By default, your email template includes rows with columns of content blocks. Content blocks can be images, text, buttons, or other elements.

To add rows:

  1. On the Design tab, click Rows tab.

  2. Drag and drop a row to your email.

Edit Row Styles

You can edit the character and paragraph styles for each row. For example, change the font settings, paragraph alignment, and other styles.

To edit the styles for a row:

  1. Click the row to edit.

  2. On the Rows tab, select the Row Background Color. This is the color outside of your content area.

  3. Select the Content Area Background Color. This is the color inside of your content area (where your text and images appear).

  4. To add or change the background image, turn on Row Background Image and click Choose Image.

  5. To apply a border line style, size, and color to all sides of your content area, in the Border section, select style options.

  6. To apply a border line style, size, and color to each side of your content area, turn on More Options and select style options for each side.

  7. To change the row layout, in the Layout section, select an option:

    • Vertical Align — Align content blocks in multi-column rows by the Top, Middle, or Bottom axis.

    • Stack on Mobile — By default, columns stack vertically on mobile devices so your email is easier to read on small screens. You can turn this option Off if your design works better on mobile devices without stacking.

    • Stack Order on MobileReverse the stack order if your design works better reversed on mobile devices.

    • Hide On — Hide this row on desktop or mobile devices.

Tip: To preview your changes on desktop and mobile devices, click Preview Layout.

Move, Duplicate, or Delete Rows

To move a row:

  1. Hover over the row to move.

  2. Click the Move icon

  3. Drag and drop the row to the new location.

To duplicate or delete a row:

  1. Hover over the row to duplicate or delete.

  2. Click the row.

  3. To duplicate the row, click the Duplicate icon

  4. To delete the row, click the Delete icon

Add, Edit, or Delete Columns in Row

To add a column to a row:

  1. Click the row to edit.

  2. Click the row.

  3. On the Rows tab, in the Columns Structure section, click Add New. A new column appears at the right with a default size of 2. Other columns automatically reduce to make room for the new column.

To edit a column:

  1. Click the row to edit.

  2. Click the row.

  3. On the Rows tab, in the Columns Structure section, click the column to edit.

  4. Select the Column Background color.

  5. To specify a padding size for all column sides, in the Padding section, enter a number. You can also click the plus and minus icons.

  6. To specify a padding size for each column side, turn on More Options. Enter a number for each side or click the plus and minus icons.

  7. To specify a border line style, size, and color for all column sides, in the Border section, select style options.

  8. To specify a border line style, size, and color for each column side, turn on More Options and select style options.

  9. To resize columns in relation to each other, click and drag the divider between columns.

To delete a column:

  1. Click the column to delete.

  2. Click Delete.
