This article describes how to edit images in emails and email templates in Bloomerang CRM.
Emails created prior to November 11, 2019 use Bloomerang CRM’s legacy editor. For help adding and editing images in these emails, refer to Add or Edit Images in Emails (Legacy Editor).
Add an Image Block
To add an image for use in an email or email template:
Open the email or email template where you would like to use the photo.
Drag and drop an image block onto the design in the desired location.
Click Browse.
Upload and Insert an Image
Clicking Browse opens your File Manager. With the File Manager you can:
Browse, search and sort files
Import new files
Create folders
Preview and insert images into your template
Every image that you upload to Bloomerang CRM is stored here, allowing you to reuse previously uploaded images as needed.
Tip: Create folders in your File Manager to organize your images.
New Images
To upload a new image to your File Manager from your computer:
In the File Manager, click the folder myfiles, then Upload.
Locate and select the image on your computer. The file must be in JPG, PNG, or GIF format.
or
Drag and drop an image from your computer into your File Manager.
3. Once the image appears in your File Manager, click Insert.
Existing Images
To insert into your design an image that already exists in your File Manager:
Click the folder where it is stored.
Hover over the image and click Insert.
Search for Free Images
To find and use free images:
In your File Manager, click Search for Free Photos.
Enter a search term, hover over the desired image and click Import.
Once the image appears in your File Manager, click Insert.
Note: The maximum file size allowed is 12MB.
Warning: Click Delete to permanently delete an image from the File Manager. If this image is used in any emails, the emails now show a broken image icon instead of the image.
Image Settings
General image settings are displayed and adjusted in the properties panel. Click an image in the design to bring up the properties panel.
Width
When a new image is inserted into a design, it is automatically adjusted using the Auto width
setting. This setting picks the best size for the image based on a combination of image width and available space in the layout. To manually adjust the image size, turn off automatic resizing and move the slider.
Alignment
Change the position of an image with the Align setting. Images can be left-aligned, centered or right-aligned.
Dynamic image
Dynamic images allow you to personalize what each recipient sees when they open your email.
Alternate text
Many email programs do not automatically display images when an email is opened:
Set Alternate Text to let the email recipient know what the image contains. Click the image and type a description into the Alternate text field:
Tip: Image descriptions make your email more accessible to constituents with visual impairments. Screen readers will announce the image description.
Image link
Images can be linked to a URL, a new email message or to a telephone number for making a call or sending a text message. Select the desired action from the Image link drop down and fill out the corresponding fields.
You can also link an image to a file that has been previously uploaded into the File Manager:
Padding
Padding allows for space to be added around an image. Increase or decrease the setting to adjust the spacing around all sides of an image.
To set padding per side, turn on More options and adjust the Top, Right, Bottom or Left settings.
Edit Images and Apply Effects
An image can be changed or edited once it has been inserted into a design.
To swap out an image, click on an existing image in your design. In the properties panel, click Change image.
To edit an image or apply effects, click on an existing image in your design. In the properties panel, click Apply Effects & more to access these options:
Filters
Use filters to enhance your image.
Click Filter.
Select an option.
Click Apply then Save to return to the Design tab.
Resize
With the resizing tool, easily change the size of your image to best fit your design.
Click Resize.
Edit the width and height. To switch from pixels, check Use Percentages.
Click Apply, then Save to return to the Design tab.
Note: Leave Maintain Aspect Ratios checked to ensure your image isn’t distorted when sizing changes are made.
Crop
Cropping allows the removal of unwanted outer areas from an image.
Click Crop.
Choose a predefined ratio or click and drag the corners to achieve the desired look.
Click Apply then Save to return to the Design tab.
Transform
Click Transform to rotate, flip or turn the image.
Draw
The draw tool allows for drawing directly on an image.
Click Draw.
Select a Brush Color, Brush Type and Brush Size.
Click and draw on the image.
Click Apply then Save to return to the Design tab.
Text
Type directly on an image with the Text tool.
Click Text.
Click an option from the Color Picker, select a Font then click Add Text.
Double click on the inserted text box and begin typing.
Click Apply then Save to return to the Design tab.
Shapes
Insert shapes such as arrows, circles or squares onto an image.
Click Shapes.
Select an option. Resize the shape by clicking and dragging corner nodes.
Click Apply then Save to return to the Design tab.
Stickers
To place stickers on an image:
Click Stickers.
Choose a category. Click a sticker, then click and drag the sticker to the desired location.
Click the corner nodes to resize the sticker.
Click Apply then Save to return to the Design tab.
Frame
To add a frame to an image:
Click Frames.
Click an option to insert the frame.
Click the settings wheel to adjust the size of the frame.
Click Apply then Save to return to the Design tab.
Corners
To adjust or round corners of an image:
Click Corners.
Adjust the radius as needed.
Click Apply then Save to return to the Design tab.
