Constituents are people and organizations with a relationship to your organization.
When you create a new constituent, you select the type:
Individual — For individual people
Organization — For companies and organizations
Create Individual Constituents
When you create a new constituent, only the name fields are required. Enter other information about the constituent if you have it.
Tip: To avoid duplicate accounts, search for an existing account before you add a new one.
To add a constituent:
Click Constituents.
Click Add Constituent.
Click individual.
(Required) Enter the First Name and Last Name. The other name fields automatically use these names, but you can change those fields.
Enter the Informal Name, Formal Name, and Envelope Name. These names control how you address the individual in letters and emails.
Enter the Recognition Name. This is how the individual prefers to be listed in donation recognition lists, such as in your annual report.
In the Personal Information section, select the Gender, Birthdate, Employer, and Job Title.
Tip: Enter the employer if you can. If you have a constituent account for the employer in Bloomerang CRM, you can group the employer with its employees in reports.To add this individual to a household, click Add to Household. Select one of the following:
Add to Existing Household — Search for the household and click Save.
Create New Household — Enter the name information and click Save.
In the Contact Information section, enter the primary Address, Email, Phone, Website, and social media accounts. You can also select the Type, such as Home or Work.
Select the Preferred Channel (Email, Phone, Text Message, Mail). This is how the constituent prefers to be contacted.
Select any communication Restrictions. Most constituents are automatically opted into all email interests. Constituents residing in the EU must explicitly opt-in to receiving communications from your organization.
Select values for any custom fields. Custom fields you created for constituents appear at the end of the page.
Click Save As.
Select Create Another Constituent or Go to Constituent Profile. If you added this constituent to a household, you can also select Go To Household.
Tip: After you save the new constituent, click the address link to make sure the address is valid.
Create Organization Constituents
When you add a new organization, only the name fields are required. Enter other information about the organization if you have it.
Tip: To avoid duplicate accounts, search for an existing account before you add a new one.
To add an organization or company:
Click Constituents.
Click Add Constituent.
Click Organization.
(Required) Enter the Organization Name.
Enter the Informal Name, Formal Name, and Envelope Name. You can enter the primary contact’s name rather than the organization name. These names control how you address the organization in letters and emails.
Enter the Recognition Name. By default, this is the organization’s name so you can recognize the entity that gave the donation. This is how the organization prefers to be listed in donation recognition lists, such as in your annual report.
In the Contact Information section, enter the organization’s Address, Website, and social media.
Enter the primary contact’s Email and Phone. You can also select the Type, such as Home or Work. Tip: After saving the organization, edit it and put the organization's name in the Employer field. This helps group an organization with its employees in reports.
Select the Preferred Channel (Email, Phone, Text Message, Mail). This is how the primary contact prefers to be contacted.
Select any communication Restrictions. Organizations are automatically opted into all email interests.
Select values for any custom fields. Custom fields you created for constituents appear at the end of the page.
Click Save As.
Select Create Another Constituent or Go to Constituent Profile.
