Activate Invoice as a Payment Method

Note: Invoicing must be manually enabled for your organization by Bloomerang. Organizations with the Auction Package have this enabled automatically. If you’re interested in using invoicing, contact Bloomerang Fundraising Support at 866-332-2999 or [email protected].

We've created a solution for you that allows donors to elect to pay later by requesting an invoice. This additional payment method enables donors to register for auctions, register for events, or make gifts on standard donation forms, and pay for those promises later.

Note: Invoicing works with any payment processor, including Bloomerang Payments. However, new recurring invoices aren't available on forms that use Bloomerang Payments yet. If you previously used another payment processor and moved to Bloomerang Payments, any existing invoices you have carry over, including recurring invoice schedules.

Enable Invoicing for Standard Donation Forms

  1. In the control panel, click Forms to find your donation form. A list of forms separated by form type appears.

Enable Invoicing for Auctions

When you enable invoicing for an auction, sponsors, table buyers, and other registrants can register now and pay later. For more information about how invoicing works for auctions, read About Invoicing for Auction Registrations.

To turn on invoicing for an auction:

  1. In the control panel, click Forms to find your donation form. A list of forms separated by form type appears.

  6. Click Save Event.

After you turn on invoicing:

  • Registrants can choose Invoice: Invoice appears as a payment option on the public auction registration form and on the Registration tab of the auction Virtual Terminal.

  • Staff can collect payments: The Invoices tab appears in the auction Virtual Terminal. For more information, read Auction Virtual Terminal: Invoices.

  • The auction gets its own invoice email: Bloomerang Fundraising automatically creates an invoice email for the auction. You can customize it on the Invoices tab of the auction's System Emails page. For more information, read [Auctions] System Emails.

If you disable invoicing for an auction, registrants can no longer choose Invoice. Registrants who already have an invoice can still pay it through the link in their invoice email.

Note: If you don't see Enable Invoice, your organization doesn't have the invoice permission. For more information, read the note at the beginning of this article.
