[Beta] What Donors With Donor Accounts See With Invoice Payment Method

Updated over a week ago

Please note: Invoices are a new feature and are not yet active by default. Give us a call if you'd like more information about activating invoices for your organization.

Donors who create a Bloomerang Fundraising Donor Account have greater power to manage their giving. A donor account enables them to look at their overall giving history, check the status of recurring gifts, and fulfill pledges. Now, when donors select the Invoice payment option, they can pay their invoice via their donor account as well.

Donor Account Creation

The ability to create a donor account can be enabled or disabled in the form settings. If active, your donors can create an account or log in to their donor account before creating an invoice. In the top right corner of your donation form is a Sign In button where donors can log into or create a donor account.

Donors can quickly create an account with their Facebook, Google, or Apple login or by entering a first name, last name, email address and creating and confirming a password.

Once the account is created, the donor is automatically logged in. Then, they complete the donation form as normal. Selecting the Invoice option from the Payment Details menu will tie the invoice created to their donor account.

What Donors See

Confirmation Page

When donors click the Give button, they’ll be taken to a transaction confirmation page. This differs from invoice transaction confirmation pages for donors who didn’t tie the invoice to a donor account in that this shows a My Account link.

Note: that the image above shows a Demo Transaction message. This will not appear on live donation forms. Donors will be invoiced and charged properly on active online donation forms.

Donor Account Dashboard

Clicking the My Account link will take the donor to their account. They can then manage the invoice from the My Giving Dashboard. Beneath the transaction history on the dashboard is a section for Open Invoices. Donors can view their invoice or click the link to pay the invoice.

When donors click View, the invoice opens in a new window. The transaction information is listed as well as the total due. Donors can pay the invoice by clicking the button on the invoice itself or pay the invoice directly by clicking Pay from the My Giving Dashboard.

Paying Invoices

Clicking Pay from the Invoice or the dashboard will take the donor to a donation form specific to their invoice. The amount of the invoice is displayed at the top of the Payment Details page. With their own account, the donor’s information will auto populate the form fields in Personal Information to save donors time. They’ll only need to complete the Payment Details section to fulfill their invoice.

On the Payment Details page, donors with Donor Accounts may see the option to pay with a stored payment method. Or they can enter credentials for a different credit card or eCheck.

Clicking Pay will process the payment. Donors can confirm their invoice is fulfilled by clicking My Account at the top of the confirmation page they’re taken to once the donation is processed.

The transaction will now appear in the transaction history, and if the donor has no additional open invoices, the Open Invoices section of the My Giving Dashboard will disappear.

Note: Individuals with donor accounts will also receive an email notifying them their invoice is ready. To learn more about what is emailed to donors regardless of if they have a Donor Account or not, check out this article.
