Being able to keep track of open invoice items is essential. Now, you can keep track of your donors’ unfulfilled invoices in DonorPerfect by setting up an integration between your DonorPerfect and Bloomerang Fundraising accounts. When DonorPerfect and Bloomerang Fundraising are connected, you can Enable Pledge Support in your DonorPerfect integration's Export settings menu.
When you create an export that includes gifts from Standard Donation Forms that allow invoicing, any unfulfilled invoice items will appear in DonorPerfect as a pledge. When the donors fulfill their pledges, the next export to DonorPerfect will create a gift and automatically link that gift to the donor’s open invoice.
How will this integration treat invoices with multiple line items or multi-restriction gifts?
A pledge is created for each line item in the invoice. This accounts for registrations, optional donations, and multi-restriction gifts. When fulfilled, gifts for each line item are created and applied to the corresponding line items of the invoice.
If the donor elected to take advantage of the GiftAssist tool, the processing fee from GiftAssist is split up and applied across all line items.
How does the integration treat invoices for recurring gifts?
If donors select the Invoice payment method when creating a recurring donation, when the export is run, a pledge is created for the duration of the recurring donation or for the year, if no end date is provided.
When the first installment is paid, that recurring donation creates a DonorPerfect gift record and is applied to the overall recurring gift pledge the next time the export is run.
When the next invoice is generated, nothing changes when the export is run because the pledge has already been created. Each recurring gift made is applied to the existing pledge.
What if we need to write off and delete the pledge?
If a donor is unable to fulfill their pledge, deleting the pledge in Bloomerang Fundraising will delete the DonorPerfect pledge when the next export is run. Deleting an unfulfilled pledge in DonorPerfect but not deleting the pledge in Bloomerang Fundraising can result in donor accounts being out of sync.
