Kiosk Basic Operation and Settings

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Please note: Kiosks must be activated by a member of the Support team before you will see any kiosk settings in your control panel. If you're interested in learning more about kiosks, please reach out to [email protected].

Your kiosk is a valuable on-site tool for your fundraising efforts. In this guide, we’ll go over how to access the kiosk area of the Bloomerang Fundraising app, as well as how to adjust what appears on the kiosk screen by editing the settings from your organization’s control panel.

Please note: This article explains how to activate a kiosk using the Bloomerang Fundraising app on your own device. If you're using the Kiosk app on a device you purchased from Bloomerang Fundraising, check out this article instead.

Activating the Kiosk in the Virtual Terminal App

Kiosk functionality is part of the Virtual Terminal app for iOS and Android.

Please note: In order to use Kiosk Mode in the iOS app, your nonprofit must be approved by Candid, and you must reach out to us to verify your approval. Check out the Apple Pay article to learn more about Candid approval. Candid approval is not required for Android users.

Managing Kiosk Settings

The majority of the kiosk’s settings are managed in the Bloomerang Fundraising control panel, but there are a couple of settings you can manage from the kiosk itself.

From the kiosk’s login screen, tap the lock icon to connect a Card Reader or view Settings.

You can also access a specific kiosk’s settings by going to the form assigned to that kiosk. From your form-level navigation, click the Kiosks item in the control panel.

Click Edit next to the kiosk you’d like to configure. You’ll see the following tabs:

Kiosk tabs.png

In the Settings tab, you'll first enter a Title for your kiosk. The title you enter is what will display on your kiosk list in the control panel. It’s only used to differentiate between kiosks and won’t display publicly.

In the About area, you can enter a description of your organization, event, or navigation items.

The text you enter here will show up next to your secondary logo after a user has chosen to log in or continue as a guest.

To the right of the Title, you’ll see the Form drop-down menu. Kiosks are assigned to a specific form when they’re activated, but you can switch the assigned form using this drop-down. Just click the down arrow and select the form you’d like to assign.

Please note: A user must have kiosk permissions enabled for the form they’d like to assign to the kiosk. If they only have access to the form currently assigned to the kiosk, that’s the only form they’ll see in the drop-down menu. You can manage user permissions in the Users area of your organization’s control panel.

Choose your address, zip code, and email collection preferences by using the No, Optional, and Required radio buttons. Donors operating as a guest won’t be required to enter their address.

If someone logging in already has a Bloomerang Fundraising donor account, their address on file will be used.

Next, you’ll need to decide if you want to put your kiosk in Guest Mode or not.

Putting your kiosk in guest mode will allow donors to make a donation as a guest without creating an account or logging in. The options to log in or create an account will remain available to donors in guest mode unless you've disabled Collect Address During Account Creation.

Pro tip: We recommend enabling Guest Mode to make donating easier for your supporters.

If you choose not to put your kiosk in guest mode, users must log in or create an account before they make a donation.

Appearance Settings

Once you’ve decided if you’d like to put your kiosk in guest mode, you can move on to choosing a color theme. If you’d like to use a default color theme, select one from the drop-down menu.

Examples of how each default color theme appears on the kiosk screen can be seen below.

If you’d like to use a custom theme color, click the toggle as shown. A Custom Theme Color option will appear in place of the drop-down menu.

Click the square to access a color selection tool.

Once you’ve adjusted to your desired color, click OK. If you have the color code for a certain color you’d like to use, you can enter in the field next to the # symbol. Your new color scheme should now display in the Custom Theme Color area.

In the Kiosk Logos area, the primary and secondary logo areas allow you to display images of your choosing on the kiosk screen. Use the Upload icons to add an image file from your computer.

Your image will display as follows in the image upload area. Primary and secondary logos can be changed at any time.

Please note: If you don't upload a secondary logo, the primary logo will display on both screens. If you don’t upload a primary logo, a default logo will display.

Configuring Receipts

Next, you’ll see the Receipt area. In the Choose a Receipt drop-down, you can select the default Kiosk receipt or a previously created custom receipt.

You can also create a new receipt from scratch in this area. You can reach the main Receipts area by clicking the green manage custom receipts text.

Below the receipt editing area, you'll see the Include PDF Receipt toggle.

PDF_toggle.jpg

You can turn this option on if you'd like to provide donors with a locked PDF receipt as an attachment with their standard email receipt. If you toggle the option on, an additional content area will appear in which you can enter any messages or disclaimers you'd like included on the PDF receipt.

Once you’ve configured your kiosk settings the way you’d like, click Save Settings. You may also choose to Cancel your actions.

Please note: Any changes you make to a kiosk’s settings will generally go through in about 15 minutes. You can force the changes and have them show up immediately by closing and then immediately reopening the Virtual Terminal app.

Copying Kiosk Settings

If you have more than one kiosk connected to a donation form, you can update the settings, navigation, and wording for multiple kiosks at the same time.

First, click Edit for one of the kiosks you'd like to update.

Configure the options on the Settings, Navigation, and Wording tabs the way you want them.

Then, navigate to the Copy Kiosk tab.

Use the checkboxes on this page to select the options you'd like to copy to another kiosk. You can click Select All to select every option in a section.

Once you've selected all of the settings you'd like to copy, scroll down to Select Kiosk and choose which kiosks you'd like to copy the settings to.

Please note: You'll only see kiosks in this menu that are connected to the same donation form as the kiosk you're editing. You can't copy settings between kiosks that are attached to different forms.

Click Apply to copy the settings to the kiosks you've selected.

Please note: The selected kiosks' settings will be overwritten by the settings you've selected above. This cannot be undone.
