In some cases, you may want to resend a mass email to constituents who may have missed it the first time. This can be a good practice for important announcements or awareness campaigns when you want to ensure you reach as many constituents as possible.
In those situations, you can copy the email and filter out constituents who received and opened the original email.
Before You Begin
Before getting started, confirm the type of email that was originally sent.
To check the filters:
View the Type inside the email.
Use Reports to Filter for Unopened Mass Email Recipients
One way to filter for recipients who have not opened a specific email is through constituent reporting.
After filtering for recipients who have both received and opened the email, you can use that report to exclude those constituents from your original recipient list.
Step 1: Create the Report
You can do this is in one of two ways:
Using conversational reporting
Using a manual report
Use Conversational Reporting to Create the Report
To run the report with conversational reporting:
Click Reports.
In the Describe Your Report and Watch it Come to Life text box, describe the report you'd like to build.
Example:“Show me constituents who received and opened the email titled June Catnap Snoozeletter.”
Click Build Report.
Review the report results for accuracy.
Name and save your report.
Manually Create the Report
To run the report manually:
In the Include section, search for and select Has Interactions.
Change Interactions to Specific Interactions.
In the Include section, search for and select Subject.
Change Contains to Is Equal To.
Enter the exact subject line for the email you want to exclude.
Click OK once.
In the Include section, search for and select Channel.
Search for and select Mass Email.
Press OK once.
In the Include section, search for and select Is Opened.
Click OK twice.
Step 2: Set the Exclusion
The exclusion filters you need depend on the email type:
Constituent
Transaction
Interaction
To exclude the constituents using an email with constituent filters:
In the Exclude section of your new email, search for and select Is in a Constituent Report.
Click Select a Report.
Search for and select the name of your new report.
Click OK.
To exclude the constituents using an email with transaction or interaction filters:
In the Exclude section of your new email, search for and select Constituent.
Search for and select Is in a Constituent Report.
Click Select a Report.
Search for and select the name of your new report.
Click OK twice.
