This article covers the basics of creating letters in Bloomerang CRM, which you can later edit and generate.
To create a new letter template:
Click Communications.
Click Letters.
Click New.
In Step 1, choose how you want to filter your audience and click the appropriate Select button. Your audience filter choice affects what filters and data fields you can use in the letter. Every letter type includes the Constituent and Summary fields. Transaction letters also have Transaction fields, and interaction letters have Interaction fields.
Warning: Your audience filter choice is permanent. Once you select how you want to filter your audience, you cannot change the filter later.
In Step 2, enter the details for your letter:
Name: A brief, descriptive name.
Purpose: The main purpose of the letter.
Use the Acknowledgment purpose to thank donors. If you set a transaction's purpose to Acknowledgement, the transaction's Acknowledged field will automatically be set to Yes.
Use the Receipt purpose for year-end receipts. The Receipt purpose does not affect a transaction's Acknowledged field.
Create One Letter Per: Select how you want to group your letters. You can create one letter per transaction or interaction, or group them by constituent or household.
Allow Blank Merge Fields: When this option is selected, constituents will not be skipped due to blank merge fields.
Allow Bad, Incomplete, or Missing Addresses: When this option is selected, constituents will not be skipped due to bad, incomplete, or missing addresses.
Click Next.
Your letter template is created. You can now edit the letter.
