When a someone makes a donation in honor of, or in memory of, someone else, send the notificant(s) a Tribute Notificant letter.
If a tribute has more than one notificant, a letter is generated for each notificant.
Create a Tribute Notificant Letter
To create a new Tribute Notificant letter template:
Click Communications.
Click Letters.
Click New.
On the Tribute Notificants tile, click Select.
Enter the details for your letter:
Name: A brief, descriptive name.
Purpose: The main purpose of the letter.
Allow Blank Merge Fields: Select this option to include constituents that have blank merge fields. If this option is not selected, constituents with blank merge fields will be skipped.
Allow Bad, Incomplete, or Missing Addresses: Select this option to include constituents that have bad, incomplete, or missing addresses. If this option is not selected, constituents with bad, incomplete, or missing addresses will be skipped.
Click Next.
Your letter template is created. You can now edit the letter.
Tribute Notificant Merge Fields and Filters
Use Constituent and Tribute Notificant fields as merge fields to personalize your letter.
The following merge fields and filters are only available in a Tribute Notificant letter:
Donor Address Block(s): The Envelope Name and address of the individual, organization, or household who made the tribute gift.
Donor Name(s): The Recognition Name of the individual, organization, or household who made the tribute gift. For more information about different name fields, read How are the name fields auto-populated?
Note: If a donor has more than one gift that meets the filters, they will only be listed once under Donor Name(s) and Donor Address Block(s).
Tribute Name: The name of the person being honored or memorialized.
Tribute Type:
In honor of: Used for living persons. For example, a bride and groom ask for donations to your organization instead of wedding gifts.
In memory of: Used for deceased persons. For example, the family asks that donations be made to your organization instead of flowers.
In addition to the fields above, you can use the following fields as filters in your Tribute Notificant letter:
Has been notified/Has not been notified: Whether a Tribute Notificant letter has been generated for a notificant.
Notificant Communication Restrictions: How the constituent does not want to be communicated with. Available values: Do Not Call, Do Not Mail, Do Not Solicit.
Notificant Status: The notificant's status. Available values: Active, Inactive, Deceased.
Transaction Date: The date on a transaction with the tribute.
Tribute Notificant Name: Constituents who are listed as notificants on a tribute.
