Donation Forms | Manage DAFpay

With DAFpay, donors can give from a donor-advised fund (DAF) directly on your donation form in Bloomerang Fundraising (formerly Qgiv by Bloomerang). DAFpay is on by default for every donation form, and you can manage it separately on each form. This article explains where the setting is, what its connection status means, and how to enable or disable DAFpay.

For more information:

Before You Begin

  • DAFpay is a per-form setting. There is no organization-level switch. If you don't want to offer DAFpay, you can disable it on each form.

  • No extra permission is needed. Any administrator who can edit a form's donation settings can manage DAFpay.

  • You are not required to create a Chariot account to accept DAFpay gifts, but we recommend that you claim one so you can manage grant payouts more easily. With an account, you can:

    • Receive grants directly from the DAF sponsor instead of through the DAFpay Network.

    • Receive grants by ACH when the sponsor supports it and you’ve set up ACH in Chariot.

    • View and manage your DAFpay grants in Chariot.

    • Mark check grants as received, helping Bloomerang update the gift to Accepted and sync it to your CRM, based on your sync settings.

View the DAFpay Setting

The DAFpay setting is in the form's donation settings. To find the DAFpay setting:

  1. In the main navigation menu, click Forms.

  2. Select a donation form.

  3. In the form menu, hover over Form Settings, and then click Donations.

  4. Click the Settings tab. The General Settings section shows whether Enable DAFpay is turned on or turned off for your form.

Enable or Disable DAFpay

DAFpay is on by default. If you don't want to offer donor-advised fund gifts on a form, you can disable it.

To enable or disable DAFpay:

  1. In the main navigation, click Forms.

  2. Select a form.

  3. Hover over Form Settings, and then click Donations.

  4. Click the Settings tab.

  5. In the General Settings section, locate and select Enable DAFpay.

    • If you turn on Enable DAFpay, a link appears that you can click to set up your Chariot account, and an alert appears stating that Employer Matching Gifts doesn't apply to DAFpay gifts.

    • If you turn off Enable DAFpay, the connection status, Chariot link, and Employer Matching Gifts message no longer appear. Gifts already made with DAFpay stay in your reports.

  6. Click Save Donation Settings.

If you turn on Enable DAFpay, after you save, Enable DAFpay shows a status stating that DAFpay is connected.

To learn about other connection statuses and their meanings, read the next section.

DAFpay Connection Statuses

When you enable DAFpay, Bloomerang Fundraising connects your organization to Chariot using the EIN and contact email address on file for your organization. The status line for the Enable DAFpay setting states whether the connection was successful.

If the connection fails when you save your settings, a banner appears on the page stating that DAFpay is enabled but connecting it failed, and a status appears with the Enable DAFpay setting. The table in this section lists each status message and what to do if the connection wasn’t successful.
