Changes to Navigation, Layout, and User Experience in Bloomerang Volunteer March 2026

As of March 26, 2026, the manager view of Bloomerang Volunteer has an updated design and layout to make existing tasks easier and more efficient to complete:

  • To help you navigate and complete tasks more easily, every page in the manager view now has both a title and a page description

  • For consistency and clarity, terminology is updated for managerial and other roles

  • For a more consistent experience, the organization and opportunity navigation menus are more similar to each other and mirror other Bloomerang product menus

  • Bulk actions for opportunities are restructured to be more organized and easier to find

  • Some pages and settings moved locations or changed names to be easier to use

  • New pages and shortcuts between related settings help to make some settings and controls easier to find than they were previously

  • Icons and colors across the interface are more consistent with Bloomerang Volunteer’s branding

  • Some additional updates make your current setup clearer to understand and help you complete tasks more easily

Tip: Several pages on both the organization and opportunity levels have new or updated interactive tours. Click the tour link on a page, and Bloomerang Volunteer will show you the page layout and give you tips on how to complete your tasks.

Terminology Updates

The titles for managers and other roles are updated to be more consistent. These changes occur everywhere the roles appear in Bloomerang Volunteer’s web and mobile applications.

Bulk Actions Restructure (Org Level)

On the Opportunities page, the bulk actions drop-down list now includes categories for Controls and Settings. This list structure mirrors the new navigation menus for consistency and makes bulk actions easier to find.

Tip: Bulk action labels are now shorter. Look for the task name (for example, Signup Workflow instead of Edit Signup Workflow Settings).

Additional Changes to Existing Pages

To make your tasks and configurations more intuitive, we updated several existing pages with changes such as new page names and updated locations for certain settings or controls.

For example, we moved settings (such as an opportunity’s Logo, Key Information, and Documents) from the old Recruitment page to the specific areas where they are managed. These changes make registration setup easier for both organizations and opportunities.

Shortcuts Between Settings and Controls

You can now go directly between related settings to save time when configuring your opportunities:

  • Troubleshoot Signup Issues: If your Signup Button Status is disabled, review the error in Controls > Signup Workflow and click Update. The system takes you directly to Controls > General to adjust your dates, application period, or capacity.

  • Address Scheduling Conflicts: If you turn on Consider Availability when Rostering, but Collect Availability is off, both controls show an alert about potential scheduling conflicts. To update the controls, click the link connecting the rostering control to the Availability control.

  • Manage Primary Managers: New help text reminds you that a user must first be an Opportunity Manager before you make them an opportunity’s Primary Manager. Switch between Schedule > Roles and Controls > General to update the Primary Manager.

  • Preview or Update Form Questions: Go from Controls > Signup Workflow to Settings > Form & Profile Fields to preview or edit your Form Questions.
    Note: You can also use this shortcut on the organization level.

Quick Wins

In addition to the layout updates, we refined several key features to be more automated and help you avoid setup errors. These improvements focus on smarter signup logic, expanded data import options, and clearer system feedback.

  • For easier configuration, the application period for opportunities is now an independent feature, separate from signup visibility settings. Signup/Application Period also connects directly to the Signup Button State: if an opportunity’s application period closes, the Signup Button State automatically turns off, and that opportunity is no longer visible to volunteers.

  • In an opportunity, if you turn on Consider Availability when Rostering, but Collect Availability is off, both controls show an alert about potential scheduling conflicts.

  • In an opportunity, the Tag Opportunity section (in General Controls) now shows the tags you already applied to the opportunity.

  • On both the organization and opportunity levels, when you click Create New Import, there are two new import options: Tags & Categories, and Language Strings. You can still import tags, categories, and language strings from the individual Tags and Language Settings pages.

  • On both the organization and opportunity levels, on the Tags page, Import from .CSV is now nested within the + Categories button.

  • Tag and language string imports now appear in your import history.

  • In places where you can upload documents to Bloomerang Volunteer, the system now:

    • States the maximum file size allowed.

    • Shows an error message when you try to upload a file that is too large.

FAQ

Do I need to take any action to activate these changes?

No action is required. The updates became active automatically.

What changes do volunteers see in their interface?

None. These changes apply to only the manager view in Bloomerang Volunteer.

Is any data affected by this change?

No data was lost or changed. These updates mainly improve navigation and design. Your existing data and settings stay the same.
