Bloomerang Volunteer | Two-Factor Authentication

Updated over a week ago

For added security, we recommend that organization managers turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) for their organizations. This optional security feature adds an extra layer of protection for your accounts and data.

After you turn on two-factor authentication, all managers in that organization must complete two separate authentication steps to log in:

  • Enter a username and password

  • Enter a verification code

You must enter a verification code when you log in to the admin view or the volunteer view.

Note: If you are in multiple organizations, you must always enter a verification code as long as one organization has 2FA enabled.

Turn On or Turn Off Two-Factor Authentication

By default, two-factor authentication is off. To turn on or turn off 2FA:

  1. From the side navigation menu, click General Settings.

  2. Select Organization Settings.

  3. On the Organization Settings page, turn on or turn off the Two-Factor Authentication setting.

Two-Factor Authentication setting within Organization Settings.

The system saves your changes automatically. Changes will take effect the next time you log in to the web application. You will not be logged out when you change this setting.

Use Two-Factor Authentication

To log in with 2FA:

  1. Enter the email address and password for your account.

  2. Click Log in.

  3. Bloomerang Volunteer sends a verification code to the email address for your account. Copy the code in the verification email.
Tip: If you don’t see the email, check your spam or junk folder. If you don’t get an email, or your code expires, click Resend Email to get another verification code.

  4. Enter the code into the Verification Code text box.
Note: You have six attempts to enter the verification code. After six failed attempts, you are locked out of your account for 15 minutes.

  5. (Optional) Click Trusted device, don’t ask me again for 30 days.

If selected, you don’t have to verify your account with 2FA again until the 30 days expire. If you do not select the checkbox, you must verify your account again the next time you log in.

  6. Click Verify.

Note: If you change the wireless network you’re using, or you log in to your account on an unverified device, you must complete 2FA again.
