BCC to Bloomerang Error Emails

Updated this week

BCC to Bloomerang sends error emails to the originating email address. Following are the email subject lines, the problem, the solution, and the error email.

If users are saying they aren't getting error emails, see "Using Aliases" for a possible cause and solution.

If users say that an email did not bcc and they didn't get an error email, it might be because the email was larger than 20MB and SendGrid did not process it.

Action required: BCC to Bloomerang unsuccessful

Problem: One of the following:

  • The To field contains the BCC email address and another email address.

  • The To field contains the BCC email address and an email address in the CC field.

  • The CC field contains the BCC email address.

Solution: Put the BCC email address in the correct field, as the email says.

Action required: Couldn't find your email address

Problem: The user’s email address is not associated with an active Bloomerang CRM user account.

Solution: Log into Bloomerang CRM to associate the email address with the user account.

Action required: Email address linked to multiple user accounts

Problem: The user's email addresses are on more than one active Bloomerang CRM user account and/or in more than one Bloomerang CRM database.

Solution: Use the unique BCC email address.

Action required: No constituent email address in forwarded email

Problem: If the details in the forwarded email were deleted, Bloomerang CRM cannot identify the constituent.

Solution: Make sure the original email has the constituent's email address in it. Forward the email again.

Action required: Bloomerang CRM couldn't find all constituents

Problem: The email has up to 10 email addresses that cannot be matched with constituents.

Solution: For each unmatched email address, click Add to Bloomerang

from the error email.

Action required: Too many unmatched email addresses

Problem: The email has more than 10 unidentified constituents. It is likely a mass email, and BCC to Bloomerang CRM does not support creating new constituents for mass emails.

Solution: Add the email address in Bloomerang CRM and forward the email again.

BCC email attachments were too large

Problem: Any attachments larger than 10MB are not allowed.

Solution: Reduce the attachment size.

BCC email attachments were not added to Bloomerang CRM

Problem: The org is over its storage limit, so no attachments were added.

Solution: Buy more storage space or delete unneeded document attachments.

Using Aliases

Definitions

  • Base account: The original email address. For example, [email protected].

  • Aliases: Secondary email addresses that are created using the base account. For example, [email protected] is an alias.

  • Installed email program: Email programs installed on your computer that you can use to manage other email accounts. For example, Apple Mail or Outlook.

Situation

  • Problem: You can set up installed email programs to send email from other email accounts (such as a Gmail account). If you are using aliases, the installed email program strips out the alias (+org1). Thus, any error emails get sent to the base account ([email protected]), not the alias account ([email protected]). This means that users will not be able to resolve any of the error emails. We cannot fix this problem because its source is how installed email programs interact with web-based email.

  • Who this affects: Probably only consultants.

  • Solution: Don't use installed email programs to send emails from email aliases. Use the alias's email account instead.
