Reasons an Email Address Is Marked as Bad
Undeliverable
An email address may be Undeliverable due to the following reasons:
The recipient domain is not configured to accept email
The scan returned a hard bounce such as "user does not exist" or "mailbox full"
The recipient address historically hard-bounced or appeared on suppression lists
Mailbox providers require specific standards for an email address including min/max number of characters, max number of periods, etc.
Invalid or Invalid Syntax
An email address can be marked Invalid or Invalid Syntax for both spelling errors and deliverability issues. Invalid reasons may include, but are not limited to:
General syntax error
Invalid domain syntax
Invalid username syntax
Address doesn’t have a domain
Address has more than one @ sign
Address contains an extra space or character
Domain doesn’t exist
Domain can’t receive email
Mailbox doesn't exist
The mailbox is full and can’t receive email
Address is a spamtrap, a known complainer or is suppressed
Typo
The email scan may find a Typo:
Typos are mistyped address domains like "gmil.com" instead of "gmail.com," and are often undeliverable.
A typo might also occur in the mailbox name as well, not just the domain.
Risky
An email address can be marked Risky for these reasons:
The receiving address may be valid, but was found on one or more suppression lists
Addresses matching a known spam trap within 250ok and other trap networks are not ideal for sending campaigns to and can impact reputation
Disposable
Disposable addresses are short-term email addresses that disappear or expire after a set time period. These addresses are usually not good for sending campaigns.
