Build advanced filters with the Matches Multiple Filters filter. Think of it as putting parentheses around a group of criteria. You can use this filter when you need to combine And and Or criteria, or when you're working with households.
Use the Matches Multiple Filters Filter to Combine And and Or Criteria
Sometimes a filter needs both And and Or logic. For example, you want constituents who live in Indiana, but only if they're volunteers, board members, or donors. The Matches Multiple Filters filter gets you the right results.
To use the Matches Multiple Filters filter:
Do one of the following:
If your report already includes at least one filter, click And or Or.
If your report doesn’t have any filters yet, click Add Filter.
Enter
Matches Multiple Filters.Select the Matches Multiple Filters filter.
In the Include section of the Matches Multiple Filters filter, click Add Filter.
Search for and select a filter.
In our example, we select a filter for a custom field named Attributes that tracks constituent engagement.If your filter has values, select the values you want to filter for. In our example, we select Volunteer and Member.
Click Apply.
In the Include section, click And.
Search for and select the Has Addresses filter.
In the Records list, select Specific Addresses.
In the Include section of the Has Addresses filter, click Add Filter.
Search for and select State.
From the Values list, select Indiana.
Click Apply.
Click Apply again.
Use the Matches Multiple Filters Filter for Households
Grouping filters is also useful when you want to show all members of a household when at least one member matches your filters. For example, you want to show all the constituents in a household where a member volunteered and gave money.
In this example, Mary Jane Watson gave $100 and volunteered. She is in the Watson household. You want to see the Watson household members in the results.
This report uses the Matches Multiple Filters option. This filter is looking for households where a member volunteered and gave money. The report shows all the constituents in those households.
To use the Matches Multiple Filters filter for households:
Create a report. In this example, we show a constituent report.
In the Include section, click Add Filter.
Enter
Matches Multiple Filters.Select the Matches Multiple Filters filter.
In the Include section of the Matches Multiple Filters filter, which appears as Is a Specific Constituent, click Add Filter.
Search for and select a filter.
In our example, we search for and select the Has Interactions filter. The following steps assume you select the Has Interactions filterFrom the Records list, select Specific Interactions.
In the Has any Specific Interactions filter, in the Include section, click Add Filter.
Search for and select a filter.
In our example, we search for and select the Purpose filter.If your filter has values, select the values you want to filter for. In our example, we select Volunteer Activity.
Click Apply.
Click Apply again.
In the Include section, click And.
Search for and select Has Transactions.
From the Records list, select Specific Interactions.
In the Has any Specific Transactions filter, in the Include section, click Add Filter.
Search for and select a filter.
In our example, we search for and select the Amount filter.In the From text box, enter
100.Click Apply.
Click Apply again.
