Mailchimp Integration: Upgrade to the the Enhanced Integration

Updated this week

An enhanced Mailchimp integration is now available in Bloomerang CRM. After a simple setup, Bloomerang CRM and Mailchimp automatically sync every hour.

In this article:

What is the enhanced Mailchimp integration?

A streamlined workflow makes it easier to sync data between Bloomerang CRM and Mailchimp.

When you enable this integration in Bloomerang CRM, you add mapping rules that control how data syncs. Map Bloomerang CRM groups to Mailchimp tags, and map Bloomerang CRM email interests to Mailchimp groups.

Bloomerang CRM syncs constituent data (name, email address, physical address), segmentation (mapped email interests and group membership), and unsubscribes to Mailchimp. Mailchimp syncs constituent data (name and email address), segmentation, unsubscribes, and email interaction activity (sends and opens) to Bloomerang CRM.

When should I upgrade?

You can upgrade starting September 26, 2024. In Bloomerang CRM, you’ll see reminders to upgrade when you go to the Integrations page or Email Templates page, or when you add a Mailchimp template. You can also go to this page to upgrade: https://crm.bloomerang.co/Settings/Mailchimp/MigrateToV2

What happens after I upgrade?

After you upgrade:

  • In Bloomerang CRM, you must create new Mailchimp mappings. These mappings control how data syncs between Bloomerang CRM and Mailchimp.

  • With this streamlined workflow, you no longer have to create Mailchimp templates in Bloomerang CRM to sync data with Mailchimp.

Important

To help you start new with this enhanced functionality:

  • Mailchimp mappings that you previously created in Bloomerang CRM no longer appear after you upgrade. These are the email interest and group mappings you created when you first set up the integration on the Integrated Partners page.

  • The New Mailchimp Template workflow no longer appears on the Emails page after you upgrade.

Note: If you have only one audience configured in Mailchimp, Bloomerang CRM uses that audience by default.

  10. Click Save and Sync. The sync starts automatically and the Status changes to Sync in Progress.

Your first sync takes the longest and might take several minutes or more, depending on the amount of data that needs to be synced. You can go to other pages in Bloomerang CRM while the sync is in progress.

After the sync completes, the number of synced constituents appears next to each mapping in Bloomerang CRM. The Status changes to Last synced on [date].
