Should you enable General Check-in/Check-out or Shift Check-in/Check-out? This article explains what each does.

Manage Check-In and Check-Out Settings

To manage check-in and check-out settings:

  1. Open the opportunity.

  2. Click General Settings icon_general_settings.

  3. Click Attendance Settings.

  4. Do one of the following:

General Check-in/Check-out

General Check-in tracks overall opportunity attendance rather than scheduled shifts.

When you turn on this setting, volunteers must check themselves in or an administrator must check them in to the opportunity.

Shift Check-in/Check-out

Shift attendance tracks attendance on a shift-to-shift basis. When you turn on this setting, volunteers must check themselves in or an administrator must check them in to individual shifts.

We recommend this option if you want to keep track of any holes in your schedule.
