Note: If your organization joined the Bloomerang Giving Platform on or after July 23, 2026 with both Bloomerang CRM and Bloomerang Volunteer, Automatic Sync and Sync New Volunteers are on by default. You do not need to turn them on. Follow the steps below to confirm your settings or to adjust which volunteers sync.
Set Priority System
Select which system takes priority if a data conflict happens after a two-way sync.
The information from the priority system is what both systems use. Options include:
Date last modified — The record with the most recent changes takes priority.
Bloomerang Volunteer — The record in Bloomerang Volunteer takes priority.
Bloomerang CRM — The record in Bloomerang CRM takes priority.
In these scenarios, the sync must prioritize one system over the other. That may differ from the priority system you chose.
Scenario 1 — Bloomerang CRM adds a newly created constituent to the Volunteer group when a constituent email and a volunteer email match.
Scenario 2 — Bloomerang Volunteer adds a newly created volunteer to the connected organization when a volunteer email and a constituent email match.
Note: If your organization is a sibling organization in a one-to-many connection, the priority system is set for you and you cannot change it. In this case, the priority defaults to Bloomerang Volunteer.
Tip: Organization Managers receive email and bell notifications when the system resolves a data conflict. See Enable or Disable Sync Notifications to change settings.
Include or Exclude New Volunteers in Syncs
New volunteers include volunteers who you manually add or import, or who sign up themselves.
Before you turn on automatic syncing or start a manual sync, decide whether to:
Automatically sync all new volunteers.
Automatically sync only the volunteers you choose to include.
New volunteers include volunteers who you manually add or import, or who sign up themselves.
When you sync volunteers, Bloomerang CRM adds the volunteers as constituents.
Note: For organizations that joined on or after July 23, 2026 with both Bloomerang CRM and Bloomerang Volunteer, Sync New Volunteers is on by default, so new volunteers sync automatically. For other organizations, new volunteers do not sync automatically until you turn on Sync New Volunteers. You can change this setting at any time.

Automatically Sync Data
We recommend that you turn on the Automatic Sync setting. It saves you time and makes sure you don't forget to sync new data. When you turn on Automatic Sync, the sync runs automatically once every hour.
Note: For organizations that joined on or after July 23, 2026 with both Bloomerang CRM and Bloomerang Volunteer, Automatic Sync is on by default. Follow the steps in this section to confirm the setting.
To turn on Automatic Sync in Bloomerang Volunteer:
Open your organization. If you are in more than one organization, open the correct organization.
In the main navigation bar, select Your Giving Platform
. Select Platform Settings.
In the side navigation, click Sync Controls.
Turn on Automatic Sync.
The sync runs automatically once every hour. The sync might take some time to complete.
Manually Sync Data
If you turn on Automatic Sync, you can still choose to sync manually. You might sync manually if you need to sync data right away, before the next scheduled automatic sync. A manual sync performs the same operations as an automatic sync.
A manual sync does not affect automatic syncs, which continue to run after a manual sync. During the next automatic sync, only records that were created, modified, or deleted since the manual sync are included in the automatic sync.
To manually sync data:
Open your organization. If you are in more than one organization, open the correct organization.
In the main navigation bar, select Your Giving Platform
. Select Platform Settings.
In the side navigation, click Sync Controls.
In the Last Sync with Bloomerang CRM section, select one of these sync options:
Standard Sync. Sync only constituent or volunteer information that changed since the last sync. This is the fastest option.
Full Sync. Sync all constituent and volunteer information, whether or not it changed since the last sync. You might do this if you notice that data in Bloomerang Volunteer and Bloomerang CRM doesn't match.
View Sync Queues and Statuses
When you sync data between Bloomerang products, the queue appears in the platform connection heading and shows:
The number of items in the sync queue
The estimated time remaining to complete the sync
An option to refresh the queue for the sync
If you leave the page and return later, and the sync is not finished, the Last Sync with Bloomerang CRM section shows a Currently Syncing message and disables the syncing options.
Verify a Data Sync in Bloomerang Volunteer
After a data sync, you can view the results in Bloomerang Volunteer and Bloomerang CRM. To understand which data syncs between systems, see Bloomerang CRM Platform Connection.
