When volunteers can see who else has already signed up for a shift, they can choose shifts alongside people they know and feel more confident joining. To allow volunteers to view who is signed up or on the waitlist for a shift, enable the Show signed-up volunteers opportunity setting.
This setting is disabled by default, but you can enable it per opportunity.
Note: Signed-up and waitlisted volunteers appear only on the shift selection screen for opportunities with this setting enabled. They don’t appear on the public opportunity page, the shift preview, or the My Shifts page before or after shift signup.
How It Works
When the setting is enabled and a volunteer opens a shift's details, they see up to two lists:
Signed Up: The volunteers scheduled for the shift, with a count of filled spots compared to the number of available spots.
Waitlist: The volunteers on the waitlist (if waitlists are enabled).
The lists behave as follows:
Each volunteer appears on the list with their first name, last name, and photo (or initials), listed alphabetically by first name.
When number- or account-based groups sign up for a shift, the lists show the group names. Number-based groups also show the number of spots their signup claims.
When the number of Signed Up or Waitlist volunteers is 10 or more, a search box appears for that list so volunteers can search for a specific person in the shift.
If a volunteer edits their own shift selection after their initial signup, they see a You marker on the shifts they signed up for.
If a shift has no signed-up or waitlisted volunteers, neither the Signed Up nor Waitlist list appears.
Before You Begin
Important: When this setting is enabled, volunteers see one another's names, photos, and group names (when applicable). Before you enable this setting, consider whether you want your volunteers to have that visibility for the opportunity.
You must have permissions to manage the opportunity's signup workflow to enable this setting. To confirm whether your role can edit opportunity details, read Bloomerang Volunteer Permission Levels.
The Shifts step of the signup workflow must be turned on so volunteers can select their own shifts.
Turn On Signed-Up Volunteer Visibility
Turn on this setting for each opportunity where you want volunteers to see who else has signed up. The setting lives in the opportunity's signup workflow.
To turn on signed-up volunteer visibility:
From the navigation menu, click Opportunities.
Search for and select an opportunity.
From the opportunity navigation menu, click Controls, then click Signup Workflow.
Locate the Shifts step.
Click Advanced Settings to expand more Shifts settings.
Select Show signed-up volunteers. Your changes save automatically.
Tip: To view the volunteer experience of this setting, open the shift selection link in a private or incognito browser window and select shifts as a volunteer would. If the opportunity is open for signup, you can also switch to the volunteer view to sign up for a shift.
