Penny is your AI fundraising partner built right into Bloomerang CRM. Chat with Penny to get insights and recommendations that help you take action and save time. Raise more by understanding what's happening, identifying risks and opportunities, and getting strategic guidance. Penny responds based on your own data in Bloomerang CRM.
For example, ask Penny to:
Provide insights about your donors and data.
Who were my new donors last week? What was my donor retention rate last year? How is my data quality and how do I improve it?Help you plan.
What should I prioritize today? Help me prepare for a meeting with Anne Smith, a major donor.Help with data entry in Bloomerang CRM.
Add a constituent named Avery Jones, 555-555-5555, [email protected].
Penny shows only data you’re allowed to access based on the existing user permissions for your account.
Your data is secure, private, and never used to train external AI models. Read the Bloomerang Ethical AI Statement. Your organization can opt out of Penny.
Penny is currently in beta, which means Penny is an early version we’re testing and improving. A limited number of Bloomerang CRM customers are using Penny and sharing feedback. Join the waitlist.
Start Your First Conversation
Start chatting with Penny from anywhere in Bloomerang CRM. Penny is always available. Chat as long as you want, as often as you want. Start a new conversation or continue an existing conversation. No other Bloomerang CRM user can read your Penny conversations.
Important: Penny is AI and can make mistakes. Double-check all facts before you take action based on Penny’s responses.
To start a conversation with Penny:
Click Ask AI. The Penny window slides open.

Do one of the following:
Click a suggested prompt. A prompt is something you say to Penny. To help you get started, Penny has a few prewritten prompts. To view more, click More Suggestions.

Enter your own prompt. In the text box, ask Penny a question, ask her to do something, or share a thought. Talk conversationally, like you would with a helpful colleague.

Press Enter on your keyboard. Penny analyzes your request and responds.
To copy Penny’s response, click Copy.

Continue the Conversation
After Penny responds, you might decide to keep chatting. To continue the same conversation, keep typing in that conversation.
Penny remembers what you’ve already talked about in that conversation. For example, if you’re talking about a donor named Anne Smith, and you tell Penny, “Add an interaction to her account,” Penny knows you’re talking about Anne.
To continue the same conversation:
After Penny responds, go to the text box below her response.
Enter more text.
Press Enter on your keyboard.
For example, ask Penny to:
Clarify or refine her response
Help you understand a concept by explaining it in a different way
Explain how she calculated a number or came to a conclusion, or why she recommended a certain action
Try again because she misunderstood or miscalculated
Start a New Conversation
Start a new conversation with Penny when you want to change the topic. For example, you chatted with Penny about how to improve your donor retention rate, but you now want to chat about your GivingTuesday campaign.
In each new conversation, Penny doesn’t remember what you talked about in past conversations. To talk about something from a past conversation, give Penny the details. You can also continue a past conversation instead of starting a new one.
To start a new conversation:
If Penny isn’t already open, click Ask AI.
Click New Conversation
.Click a suggested prompt or enter your own prompt.
Read or Continue Past Conversations
Penny keeps a list of your past conversations so you can re-read or continue them.
To read or continue past conversations:
If Penny isn’t already open, click Ask AI.
Click Conversations
.Click a conversation.

To re-read the conversation, scroll to the beginning.
To continue the conversation:
Go to the text box below Penny’s response.
Enter more text.
Press Enter on your keyboard.
Rate Responses
You can rate each response from Penny. Your feedback helps improve the quality and accuracy of Penny’s responses.
To rate a response:
Click one of the following:
Good Response
Bad Response
(Optional) To provide more feedback, enter your comments in the text box and then click Submit.

Close Penny
If you’re done chatting with Penny, click Close
. The Penny window slides close.
Opt Out of Penny
Your organization can opt out of using Penny. When you do this, Penny is turned off for everyone in your organization. You must have administrator permissions to turn off Penny.
To turn off Penny:
Click Settings.
Click Organization.
In the Penny AI section, click Turn Off.
To confirm, click Turn Off again.
