Note: The integration interface was updated in October 2024, so what you see in the integration's settings will look a little different than what's described in this article. We're in the process of making updates, but in the meantime, check out this article for an overview of the new design.
Note: Please reference the attached spreadsheet that shows which fields in Bloomerang Fundraising map to associated fields in Blackbaud CRM.
Note: Qgiv by Bloomerang is now Bloomerang Fundraising! This video does not yet reflect the new branding and visual layout of the Bloomerang Fundraising platform. Updates are in progress, so check back soon!
If you're setting up the integration for the first time, be sure that:
Your president has signed the agreement with JA USA
You have your credentials: username, password, and account system ID
You've let the Bloomerang Fundraising Customer Experience team know that you want to add the integration. We'll need to toggle it on for you!
If you've already set up the integration and would like instructions on how to set up optional mappings and run an export, click here to skip to that section.
There are three Blackbaud CRM servers:
Production
Stage
Beta
By default, we will export to the production database.
Online transactions, Bloomerang Fundraising offline verified transactions, and peer-to-peer offline verified transactions (including matching) are exported by default. You do have the option to exclude the export of offline and matching donations. Refunds, voids, and chargebacks are not exported.
To integrate your Blackbaud CRM account with Bloomerang Fundraising, click the Integrations item your control panel's left-hand navigation.
Select Blackbaud CRM from the list, enter your Blackbaud CRM Username and Password, and then click Activate.
You’ll be taken to a screen where you can configure your settings.
In the Frequency drop-down, choose Manual, Hourly, or Daily exports.
If you choose Daily exports, you’ll also be able to choose the time (Eastern) for the export to occur.
Use the calendar to choose the date on which you’d like to start exporting data. If you'd like to export data from a date prior to the current date, you can set your calendar accordingly so historical transaction data will be exported.
The API Connection shows you if your API status is active. When your API Connection expires and reverts back to pending status, an admin notification will be sent to let you know so you can reestablish the integration.
The Specify End Date for Export toggle button allows users to specify an automatic end date to stop exporting data through this integration.
In the Account System ID field, enter the code obtained from Junior Achievement USA. This ID is used when creating payment records.
If you don't want to export offline and matching donations, click the toggle so it displays as green.
If you don't want to include Facebook donations click the toggle so it displays green.
You can also toggle on an option to make GiftAssist export as its own separate line item.
You can also toggle on the option to give a sub-registrant a solicitor credit for their registration fee.
The "Do not acknowledge" toggle is on by default and sets the corresponding Blackbaud CRM Payment Record field to the same. The same is true of the "Do not receipt" toggle.
In the Select a Team Solicitor Credit Attribution drop-down, choose how donations to teams should be attributed. Team Captains will distribute donations across team captains. Evenly Distributed will spread donations evenly across team members.
In the Maximum Transactions selector, you can set how many transactions Bloomerang Fundraising sends per export. The default is 100.
In the Designation and Appeal drop-down menus, the selections you make will be your default mapping locations. Selecting a designation is mandatory, but appeals are optional selections and can also be set to Unmapped.
Using the mapped Designation for the record along with the transaction date, the Campaigns portion of a revenue record will be populated automatically when exporting to Blackbaud CRM.
If there’s any extra information you’d like to add to the Payment Reference field in Blackbaud CRM upon export, you can choose from the options in the Extra Info drop-down menu. You can read more about what those extra info fields mean here. There is a 255 character limit in this field. We begin truncating data once that limit is reached.
You can make multiple selections – they’ll appear one at a time below the drop-down menu as you select them.
Not all information is available for each transaction type (e.g. Participant Name will only show up for peer-to-peer registrations).
The Connection Details allow you to quickly see where your data is going.
Re-authenticate gives you the option to re-authenticate the integration connection without having to delete an reinstall the integration. You'll be able to log in with a different username and password, if necessary.
When you’ve configured your settings to your liking, click Save. You’ll need to click Save even if you haven’t made any changes. You may also choose to Cancel your actions.
If you’d like to delete your integration, click the trash can icon.
Once you’ve saved, click the arrow shown below to display your Optional Mappings options, then click Add Export Type. This is where you’ll configure mappings if you’d like specific data sets mapped to something other than the default values in the settings area.
For example, if you’d like to export data for a specific form, click Form, then select Add Mapping.
In the Bloomerang Fundraising Data drop-down, you’ll need to select which Bloomerang Fundraising form from which you’d like to export data.
In the Blackbaud CRM drop-down, you’ll first need to select if you want to set up a mapping or exclude the data.
If you chose Map To:, your next step is to select the export destination in Blackbaud CRM.
When you’ve configured your mapping, click Save. You may also choose to Cancel your actions or Delete Export Type.
The process is similar for each data set shown in the Optional Mappings area. There may be some slight variations in how many choices you have in each drop-down. For example, if you’re mapping restrictions, you’ll see another drop-down menu, and still another if you’ve set up subrestrictions. Donations made using the multiple restrictions option will be split up into multiple donations.
When mapping events, you’ll be given the option to drill all the way down to event packages, if desired.
You can also map text campaigns:
Peer-to-peer events just require a form selection and export destination.
You can choose to export other peer-to-peer data, as well.

When you’re ready to run an export, click Run Export, which is located in the upper-right corner of your settings window. This is only necessary if you chose the Manual export option. Otherwise, exports are scheduled to run once per hour at 15 minutes past the hour, but they are not guaranteed to run at exactly 15 minutes past. Actual run time depends on server load.
Note: The date you set aligns with the transaction dates you'll be exporting. If you set the date to today and choose the continuous option, only transactions from today and future dates will be exported.
If you'd like to export past data, you can easily set the calendar accordingly and run a manual export to get historical transaction information before setting the continuous export option.
You’ll receive a message in a pop-up alerting you that your export was completed. If successful, you’ll see a message letting you know all transactions were exported successfully.
If there were any issues during the export, you’ll see a message similar to the following:
To the right of your settings, you’ll see an Export History table which displays the name and date of each export. It holds up to 10 entries and contains export history for all service integrations you’ve set up.
To view all export history, click the button below the table.
When you do so, you’ll open the Export History Report. This report displays the individual records exported to your service integrations.
In the export history report table you may notice an icon that looks like the outline of a person with a plus sign. This means a new record was created in Blackbaud CRM as the result of a new donor or registrant.
Follow the link to learn more about the Export History Report.
Note: Multi-restriction and multi-package transactions get split up into multiple donations. If you have GiftAssist enabled, those amounts get divided up across transactions. In case there is a remainder, one donation may get a bit more than the rest.
If this service integration is no longer needed, it can be deleted by clicking the trash can icon from the Service Integration menu.
After deleting the service integration, if you need to re-enable it you can reconnect just like when you originally set up the service integration. To save you time and prevent you from accidentally creating duplicate records, you'll be prompted to Import History when you establish your integration again. Note that this will not import any past integration settings. If you would rather start with a clean slate, select No, start from scratch instead.
