Use promo codes to discount event registrations in Bloomerang Fundraising. Promo codes can help you promote early bird pricing and encourage registrants to sign up for events faster, among other benefits.
You can add multiple promo codes to a single package, or individual promo codes to separate packages. During checkout, registrants enter the promo code(s) to apply the discount to eligible packages.
Important: Promo codes apply only to the packages you associate them with. If you do not select a package, the promo code does not apply to that package.

Tell Registrants about Promo Codes
If you want to encourage registrants to use promo codes, you can add instructions or prompts throughout the checkout process.
Package Descriptions
You can add information about promo codes to packages that are eligible for promo code discounts. For example, in a package’s Package Description text box, you can add: Have a promo code? Enter it at checkout to apply your discount.
To add promo code instructions to a package, follow the steps in Event Packages. In the Package Description text box, add your instructions.
Registration: Tickets Page
You can use Event Builder to add promo code information to the page where registrants will purchase tickets. For example, you can add a Text widget to the ticket listings with wording such as Enter promo code at checkout to receive your discount.
Test Promo Codes
Complete a test event registration with a package that is eligible for the promo code. The registration process shows you how the promo code will function on the form for registrants.
Complete a Test Registration
Tip: To test the full registration process without paying for a package, first create a promo code with a $0 amount discount (or a 100% percentage discount) that you can enter at checkout.
To test a promo code:
Within the form you’re managing, click View Form.
Go through the registration process.
At checkout, enter the promo code.
Confirm the discount applies to the appropriate package(s) before you complete the transaction. You do not have to complete the test transaction.
Troubleshoot Promo Codes
If a promo code does not apply during checkout for a registrant or during a test, confirm that:
The promo code is active
The promo code is within the start and end date range (if you included start and end dates)
The promo code has not reached its Max Uses Overall limit
The promo code has not reached its Max Uses Per Transaction limit
The promo code is associated with the package(s) selected
The registrant entered the promo code correctly (for example, no extra spaces)
Void Test Transactions
If you complete a test registration, you can void the transaction so the event doesn’t count that registration as an attendee.
To void the transaction:
On the Event Settings page, select the Attendees tab.
From the table, click the Transaction ID you want to void.
On the Transaction Details page, click Void Transaction.
On the confirmation screen, click Yes, void this transaction.
Bloomerang Fundraising voids the transaction.
