Role and Shift Settings: Default Volunteers Required and Signup Limits

Updated over 2 weeks ago

To have more control over how you Roster your Roles and Shifts, use the Default Settings.

Default Role Settings

When creating or editing a role, you can set the default Volunteers Required and the default Signup Limit for the role. The default Volunteers Required is the number of volunteers that are required to successfully fill a shift. The Signup Limit is the maximum number of volunteers that can have the role. These numbers are used as the default when creating a shift. However, any changes that you make to these settings from the Roles details will not be reflected within any existing shifts.

Create New Role page with fields for the role name, description, details, signup visibility, and default scheduled settings options..

You can edit the default minimum and maximum by selecting the role from the roles screen and choosing Edit Details from the Take Action drop-down list.

Role with the Take Action menu expanded.

Shift Settings:

To give you more precise control over the Default Volunteers Required and the Signup Limit, you can adjust this on a shift-by-shift basis. This will override the default settings for the role for that shift. For example, if a shift only requires one Greeter at a time, the shift settings can be changed to reflect this requirement.

You can edit Default Volunteers per shift by selecting them individually from the Shift details, or in bulk by clicking Take Action when working with the Scheduled Shifts or Scheduled Roles List views.
