If your organization receives donations made through United Way, you can track these indirect donations in Bloomerang CRM.
To track indirect donations made through United Way:
Create an organization-type constituent account for each United Way office that contributes to your organization.
When you receive a United Way check representing donations from multiple constituents, create a new donation on the constituent account for that United Way office.
For the Amount, enter the full amount of the check you received from United Way.
In the Soft Credits section, click the + sign.
Search for and select one of the individual constituents who donated through United Way.
Enter the amount of that constituent's donation.
Note: Soft credits are not included in revenue or raised totals, nor do they appear in any dashboard metrics.Click Add.
Repeat Steps 4–7 for each individual constituent who donated through United Way.
Click Save. A soft credit appears on each individual constituent's timeline.
Note: If an individual constituent has an active pledge, you can edit the soft credit to apply it to the pledge. For instructions, read Add and Edit Soft Credits.
Soft credits appear in the Indirect Donations section of year-end giving statements. For example, if you add a donation to United Way of Hogsmeade and include a soft credit for Minerva McGonagall (the original donor), that soft credit appears in the Indirect Donations section in Minerva's year-end giving statement. The Indirect Donations section reminds donors of their support but doesn’t function as a tax receipt. Read more about this.
