Update Existing Constituents in Bloomerang CRM with Google Sheets

Zapier enables you to connect Bloomerang CRM and Google Sheets. Use this template to update existing constituents in Bloomerang CRM from a spreadsheet row in Google Sheets. This help article is for creating Individuals. If you would like to add Organizations using this method, follow these same steps but choose Organization instead of Individual where appropriate.

Google Sheets set up

  1. Log into Google Sheets and click Blank to start a new blank spreadsheet.

  2. Name your spreadsheet something like “Update Constituents”.

  3. Add the following column headers at a minimum:

    • First Name

    • Last Name

    • Email

    • Approved

Tip: We recommend using these fields in order to match constituents in Bloomerang CRM. However, there are multiple ways to match an existing constituent. For more information on matching criteria, see this help article.

  1. Add column headers for fields you would like to update.

  2. Name the worksheet at the bottom of the document (optional).

To Set This up in Zapier

  1. Locate the template you would like to use, and click Use this Zap. You will be prompted to log in to your Zapier account.

  2. Review the template's prebuilt settings and customize, as needed.

Step 1. New or Updated Spreadsheet Row in Google Sheets

Choose App & Event. This information is prefilled based on the chosen template.

Choose Account. Sign in to Google and select your Google Sheets account.

Customize Spreadsheet Row. Select your Spreadsheet, the specific Worksheet (if you did not rename this, it is called Sheet1), and the Trigger Column. The Trigger Column in our example is called Approved.

Find Data. Select Test & Review, select the sample data from your spreadsheet and click Done Editing.

Step 2. Only Continue If...

Note: This step filters checks your Trigger Column to determine if the rest of the Zap will run.

Choose App & Event. This information is prefilled based on the chosen template.

Filter Setup & Testing.

  1. Select your Trigger Column. In our example, it is the Approved column.

  2. Leave the Text Contains option as it is.

  3. Enter your desired text, or, leave Yes as it is.

Step 3. Find Constituent in Bloomerang CRM

Choose App & Event. This information is prefilled based on the chosen template.

Choose Account. Choose your Bloomerang CRM Account, then click Continue.

Customize Constituent.

  1. Under First Name, select the Google Sheets First Name field.

  2. Under Last Name, select the Google Sheets Last Name field.

  3. Under Email, select the Google Sheets Email field and click Continue.

Send Data

  1. Click Test & Review.

  2. Check to see if Zapier found your existing constituent, or, head to Bloomerang CRM to see the new constituent.

  3. Adjust your set up, as needed, then click Done Editing.

Step 4. Update Constituent in Bloomerang CRM

Choose App & Event. This information is prefilled based on the chosen template.

Choose Account. Choose your Bloomerang CRM Account, then click Continue.

Customize Constituent.

  1. Select any fields you would like to update from your spreadsheet and click Continue.

Send Data

  1. Click Test & Review.

  2. Check to see if Zapier found your existing constituent, or, head to Bloomerang CRM to see the new constituent.

  3. Adjust your set up, as needed, then click Done Editing.

  4. Zapier lets you know when it thinks your zap is ready. Click the toggle button to turn on your zap and start sending new constituent data from Google Sheets to Bloomerang CRM.
