Report on Relationships

Build a relationships report in Bloomerang CRM to see how your constituents are connected.

These reports show you who can help you engage and cultivate a particular constituent, and you can use them to send letters and emails. Because relationships are all about people, relationship reports are built on constituents.

This article covers the basic steps for creating a relationship report, plus a more advanced example that shows what these reports can really do.

Create Relationship Report

Let's create a report that shows who is soliciting particular constituents. Follow along with your own values as you go.

You can add filters for the other constituents. For an example, go to the “Report Using Roles and More Filters” section on this page.

To start a relationship report:

  1. Click Reports.

  2. Click New Report.

  3. Click the Constituent - Profile Starter (Start from Scratch) constituent report.

  4. Click Start Report.

  5. In the Include section, click Add Filter.

  6. From the filter list, select Has Relationships.

  7. From the Relationship Type list, select Specific Relationships.

  8. From the Their Role list, select a role.

  9. From the The Other's Role list, select a role.

  10. Click Apply.

  11. Click Columns.

  12. Search for Relationships.

  13. Click Add.

  14. Click Apply.

  15. Hover over the Relationships column.

  16. Click More Options (three vertical dots).

  17. Select Configure Column.

  18. Choose which role you want to see. This is not limited to the role you selected for the related constituent.

  19. Click Group by This Column.

  20. Click Apply.

Report Using Roles and More Filters

Add filters to narrow the related constituents and get even more out of relationship reporting. For example, you could find major donors who are connected to lapsed major donors.

To create this report:

  1. In the Include section, click Add Filter.

  2. Click Has Transactions.

  3. From the Conditions list, select The Calculated.

  4. From the Field list, select Revenue Amount.

  5. From the Records list, select Specific Transactions.

  6. Enter a Minimum amount. For example, to find major donors, enter your organization's minimum monetary threshold for major donors.

  7. In the Transaction Filters section, in the Include section, click Add Filter.

  8. Search for and select Date.

  9. From the Interval list, select an option. For example, select This Fiscal Year.

  10. Click Apply.

  11. Click Apply again.

Now use a relationship filter to find other major donors who have lapsed:

  1. In the Include section of your report, click And.

  2. Search for and select Has Relationships.

  3. From the Relationship Type list, select Specific Relationships.

  4. Leave the role fields empty because the relationships could be of any type.

  5. From the And the Other Constituent list, and select Matches.

  6. In the Include section, do one of the following:

    • Reference an existing lapsed donor report. Click Add Filter. Next, search for an select Is in a Constituent Report. Select a report and click Apply.

    • Filter for lapsed major donors. Click Add Filter. Next, search for an select Has Transactions. Click Apply.

  7. In the Exclude section, exclude donors who donated this year:

    1. Click Add Filter.

    2. Search for and select Has Transactions.

    3. From the Records list, select Specific Transactions.

    4. In the Include section for the Specific Transactions filter, click Add Filter.

    5. Search for and select Date.

    6. From the Interval list, select This Fiscal Year.

    7. Click Apply.

    8. In the Include section for the Specific Transactions filter, click Add Filter.

    9. Search for an select Amount.

    10. Enter a From amount.

  8. Click Apply.

  9. Click Apply again.

The report shows any major donors who know at least one lapsed major donor.
