What happens if a volunteer’s preferred language is not included in an organization or opportunity?

In Bloomerang Volunteer, you must add a volunteer's preferred language to make sure all text on an organization or opportunity page appears in that language.

If a manager hasn’t added a volunteer’s preferred language to the organization or opportunity, some text on the public page might default to the primary language of the organization or opportunity instead.

Organizations and opportunities contain two types of text on their public pages:

  • Templated or system text. Managers cannot edit this information. Bloomerang Volunteer automatically includes this text in its interface, and translates it to the volunteer’s preferred language.

  • Custom text fields. Managers can edit this text for each organization or opportunity. Bloomerang Volunteer does not translate this text automatically.

For example, a volunteer’s preferred language is French, but their organization’s primary language is English. Because the manager hasn't added French to the organization settings, the volunteer sees system text in French but sees all customized text in English.

To make sure customized text appears in a volunteer’s preferred language, add the preferred language to the organization or opportunity.
