All managers can view waiver responses for organizations and opportunities. Organization, Opportunity, and Role Managers can also download, save, or print waiver responses from a volunteer’s profile. Read-only managers can also do this if they have export permissions.
You can download responses for two kinds of waiver:
Default waivers: The Organization Waiver and Opportunity Waiver templates included in your signup forms.
Custom question waivers: Waivers you add yourself as a custom question.
Important: If you might need a copy of a volunteer's waiver response, we recommend that you download it while the volunteer is still active in your organization. When a volunteer deletes their Bloomerang Volunteer account, or when a manager removes a volunteer from the organization, the waiver row stays visible in a read-only state, and the Download option is hidden.
Waiver Response States
Each waiver on the Custom Question Responses tab shows a state. The following list explains what each state means and whether you can download a response.
Accepted: The volunteer agreed to the waiver. A Download option appears next to the response.
Pending: The volunteer has not agreed to the waiver yet. No Download option appears.
Opportunity Waiver content is incomplete: No one has entered content for this waiver yet. This state reflects whether the waiver content is filled in, not whether the waiver is turned on. A waiver that is turned on but has no content still shows this state.
The waiver response appears on the Custom Question Responses tab only when one of the following is true:
At least one default waiver is enabled on the organization or opportunity.
A waiver response was already captured for the volunteer.
If neither is true, the waiver response does not appear.
If you enable a waiver after a volunteer registers, and the volunteer has not agreed to it yet, the waiver data field still appears. The waiver row shows Pending, and no Download option appears.
Note: Bloomerang Volunteer stores waiver response PDFs from a set date onward. For waivers a volunteer signed before that date, the Download option appears but you cannot select it. The same storage cutoff applies to default waivers and custom question waivers.
Waiver Response PDFs
Downloading a waiver response creates a PDF on your device.
PDFs for signature waiver responses include:
Organization or opportunity title
Waiver text
Waver State: Has accepted
Signature
Signee Full Name
Actual Signee (Account), including name and email address
Date Submitted, including date, time, and current user’s time zone
PDFs for checkbox agreement waiver responses include:
Organization or opportunity title
Waiver text
Waiver State: Has accepted
Customized Agreement Text (for example: “I agree.”)
Full Name
Actual (Account Submission), including name and email address
Date Submitted, including date, time, and current user’s time zone
If a volunteer submitted the waiver, the PDF shows the volunteer’s name, signature, and account email address. If a manager agreed to or updated a waiver on behalf of a volunteer, the PDF shows the manager's name, signature, and account email address.
Download Waiver Responses
When you go to download a waiver response from a volunteer’s profile, you might find that the system stored multiple versions of the waiver. To help you track volunteers’ responses, Bloomerang Volunteer saves and stores waiver responses each time:
A volunteer accepts or submits a waiver agreement for the first time
A volunteer edits their waiver response
A volunteer edits and submits form questions for the organization or opportunity without changing their waiver response
A manager submits a waiver agreement on behalf of a volunteer
A manager edits a waiver response on behalf of a volunteer
Note: Each version of a waiver response includes the waiver text that the volunteer agreed to at the time of acceptance or submission.
To download a waiver response PDF:
If you are in more than one organization, make sure you are in the right one.
In the side navigation menu, click People, and then click Volunteers.
From the volunteer list, search for and select a volunteer.
In the volunteer’s profile, select Custom Question Responses. By default, the volunteer’s responses for the organization appear.

Select Organization-Level Responses or a specific opportunity from the drop-down list. Each selection shows only its own waiver: the organization selection shows the Organization Waiver, and an opportunity selection shows that opportunity's Opportunity Waiver. To view a volunteer's responses for an individual opportunity, open the volunteer's opportunity profile within an opportunity.
Note: In the volunteer’s organization profile, only opportunities that the volunteer is signed up for appear on the Custom Question Responses tab.Next to the waiver response, click Download.
Note: If the Download option appears but you cannot select it, the response was signed before Bloomerang Volunteer began storing waiver PDFs and is not available to download.
If the waiver has multiple versions due to volunteer or manager updates, a window appears. From the drop-down list, select the waiver submitted on the date and time you want, then click Download PDF.
A PDF of the waiver response downloads to your device.
Note: Waiver text appears in the language the volunteer agreed in. Document language, including headings and subtext, appears in the language that was active in the manager's profile when they downloaded the agreement.
