Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Auction Event Builder is where you'll customize the look and feel of your auction's web registration page.

This article explores the overall settings and navigation for Event Builder. To view the customization options for specific pages of your auction event site, check out this article.

Contents:

Getting Started

To access the Event Builder, click the Event Builder button at the top right of your auction form's control panel.

The Event Builder opens by default to your Auction Home Page.

You can choose other pages by clicking on the drop-down menu at the top right of the screen, located in the Event Builder toolbox.

The navigation, banner image, heading, and primary color scheme will be constant throughout all of the pages. Once you make those changes on the Auction Home Page, they’ll be carried throughout all of the other applicable pages automatically.

Navigation

The navigation bar appears along the top of the auction site. You’ll see some links there by default.

If you’d like to add an additional navigation item, click the gear icon at the far left of the navigation bar.

This is also how you can edit, reorder, or delete existing navigation items.

If you're adding an item, you’ll be prompted for the Link Label and to indicate where you’d like the new navigation item linked. If you choose Site Page, you’ll see a list of default event pages.

If you choose Custom URL, you’ll have a box to type in the URL where you’d like to link the navigation item. This allows you to link to external event resources, if necessary.

Click Update Settings once you've configured your new navigation item.

Once you start making changes, you'll see the Save Page button in your Event Builder toolbox become animated to remind you that there are unsaved changes. It’s best to click that often to be sure you’re not losing any changes.

Banner Image and Header

Next, let’s take a look at your event header and footer configuration options. For the banner image up top you’ll want to design or choose an image that is at least 1260 by 465 pixels. Click on the Change Banner Image button to browse your files for an applicable image.

Once you choose an image and it has been uploaded, you can drag the image to adjust its positioning or zoom in or out depending on the image size. When you’re happy with your image, click the I’m Done Editing button.

The gear icon in the header area, below the event banner, controls the display and wording of your organization name, registration button, donation button, and sharing options. You can also change the Theme colors and font size of the header text.

Main Content Area

The content area comes pre-populated with widgets we think might make the most sense for your event. However, depending on your event, you may want to add or delete some of the default options.

Clicking on the gear icon on any widget will display its configuration options. These will be different for each widget depending on its role within the event. Clicking on the trash can icon will delete the widget from the page.

By hovering over the top of a widget, you can click to drag and drop it to an alternate location within the page.

Widgets Tab

All available widgets are located in the Event Builder toolbox in the Widgets tab.

Widgets can be used multiple times with different configurations by simply dragging and dropping them from the Event Builder toolbox into your content area. Use the search bar above the widgets to quickly find what you're looking for.

Theme Tab

This Theme tab contains some auction-wide theme settings.

First, configure the Background Color and Primary Color for your event. Specific colors can be entered or you can use the color picker to choose one.

If you’d like to change the font throughout the site, choose one of the options in the Font drop-down list. You may also change the Font Size if necessary.

Next up is the Individual Content Styles area. Here you’re able to override the default styling for certain widgets.

If you choose something in the drop-down menu and then hover over the What is this? text, the system will highlight what you’ll be changing.

Use the Font Size, Background Color, and Text Color areas in this section to make the changes you’d like to see. This override is not on a per page basis – the area or widget will be overridden throughout the entire auction on all pages. Again, don’t forget to click the Save Page button in the event builder toolbox.

Advanced Tab

The configuration of page titles, header and footer content, or custom CSS is available in the Advanced tab in your toolbox.

Please note: There are some Page-Specific Settings you can configure for each page, and there are some Global settings that will carry across all pages when configured.

You’ll see a pop-up asking for a Page Title and giving you layout options. Once you choose a layout, click the Insert Layout button at the bottom.

This new page is now considered a site page and can be edited the same way all of the other event pages can be configured. Be sure you toggle on the Published option once you’re ready for that page to be accessible.

You have the ability to move your Event Builder toolbox to the right or left side of your screen. This can be done using the icons at the top of the toolbox.
