Build a report to see which of your constituents have been giving each year. This report can show you who has been giving in each of the specified time periods, and you can add a column to total giving in each time period, as well. You can use these reports to send letters and emails.
For example, let's run a report to see which constituents gave in each of the last three years: 2018, 2017, and 2016. We'll then add columns for revenue given in each year.
Click Reports.
Click New Report.
Click Start from Scratch.
Click Constituents.
Add Filters
In the Include section, click Add Filter.
Search for and select Has Transactions.
Click Any Transactions, and select Specific Transactions.
Under Include, click Add Filter, then search for and select Date.
Click During, and select Between.
Enter the dates for the first year time period, for example, 1/1/2018-12/31/2018, then click OK.
Click OK again. This will give you a list of constituents who have given in the first year period (2018).
Add filters for the second year time period:
In the Include section, click And.
Search for and select Has Transactions.
Click Any Transactions, and select Specific Transactions.
Under Include, click Add Filter, then search for and select Date.
Click During, and select Between.
Enter the dates for the second year time period, for example, 1/1/2017-12/31/2017, then click OK.
Click OK again. Now this report will give you a list of constituents who have given in the first and second year period (2018 and 2017).
Keep adding filters until you have one for each year period that you are looking for, and save your report.
Note: In this example, we are only filtering by date range, but you can add other parameters, as well, for example, if you are only looking for specific transaction types, or giving to a certain Fund, Campaign, or Appeal.
Add Columns
Click Add Column, then search for and select Has Transactions.
Click Number, and select Sum.
Click Amount, then select Revenue Amount.
Click All Transactions., and select Specific Transactions.
Under Include, click Add Filter, then search for and select Date.
Click During, and select Between.
Enter the dates for the first year period, for example, 1/1/2018-12/31/2018, then click OK.
Click OK again.
Click this column header, and rename it for that year, then click OK.
Click Add Column, then search for and select Has Transactions.
Click Number, and select Sum.
Click Amount, then select Revenue Amount.
Click All Transactions., and select Has Specific Transactions.
Under Include, click Add Filter, then search for and select Date.
Click During, and select Between.
Enter the dates for the second year period, for example, 1/1/2017-12/31/2017, then click OK.
Click OK again.
Click this column header, and rename it for that year, then click OK.
Keep adding columns until you have one for each year period that you are looking for, then save your report.
Tip: To view giving by household, click Constituent where it says Constituent Filters, then select Household. The report will be filtered by combined giving of all members of a household. This does not affect constituents who are not in a household.
