To track split payments, run a transaction report.
You can view split payments and regular transactions in the same report. For example, run a transaction report for a specific date range. Both split payments and regular transactions appear in the report results.
To include more details about split payments in the report, add these columns: Is Split Payment, Payment Amount, Fee Amount, and Payment Number.
To view only split transactions in the report, include the Is Split Payment filter.
By default, transaction reports include the Amount column. The Amount is each individual amount included in the split payment. The Payment Amount is the full amount of the split payment (the full amount of the gift).
Split payments have both a Payment Number and Transaction Number. Each amount in the split payment has a unique transaction number, but shares the same payment number.
If you add the Fee Amount column, a fee appears next to each amount in the split payment. However, the fee amount is calculated for only the full amount of the split payment (the full amount of the gift).
To see how each amount was allocated, add the Fund column.
Acknowledge Split Payments
Create a Transaction letter with a purpose of Acknowledgement to thank donors for split payments. Since each split payment has its own unique Transaction Type, Amount, Fund, Campaign, Appeal, Soft Credit, Tribute, or notes, consider creating a separate acknowledgement letter for split payments. Insert a data table to show the details of each split.
